Mental health is an essential and one of the most important aspects of our mental, behavioral and emotional health. What we think, how we feel, and how we use our thinking-consciousness to manage life - these are actually meaningful parts of our mental health. A mentally healthy person has a proper idea of himself and never succumbs to excessive emotions, such as anger, fear, violence, guilt or anxiety. They have the ability to cope with life's situations.

Mental health problem is a growing social and health problem not only in Bangladesh but globally. Mental health is in no way less important than physical health. In terms of physical well-being, if one is in good health, he has full energy and he can devote himself to good deeds. In the same way, if someone is mentally healthy, he can do a lot of good work with full vigor. In other words, for complete well-being, a connection of well-being with both physical and mental health is essential. It is never possible to achieve overall well-being by ignoring it. Physical disorders affect the physical health of the individual; Such is the case when a person is obsessed with various negative emotions, such as anxiety or fear; Then these emotions can make him mentally ill, such as depression, general anxiety disorder or general anxiety disorder, bipolar mood disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc.

The thing to regret and the reality is that the more we care about the health of the body and the more we care about the health, the more indifferent we are about the health of the mind. 92.3 percent of the elderly with mental disabilities are deprived of psychiatric services for various reasons. 94.5 percent of the mentally handicapped children and adolescents are out of the reach of medical services. Even about 29.2 percent of children and adolescents who receive treatment for mental retardation remain incomplete.

The deep and mysterious truth is that such a healthy mind is not possible without a healthy body; Without such a healthy mind, a healthy body and a healthy life are not possible. Just think - we are so restless and anxious about physical illness that there is no doctor's advice; We do not go to a psychiatrist at all for mental illness or mental problems. This is actually due to our ignorance and indifference about the mind, mental problems and mental disorders. Most people do not have a clear idea of what can happen to the mind as well as to the body.

Again, many people think that mental illness means madness; Psychiatrist means crazy doctor. But that is not the case at all. Mental illness does not mean insane and a psychiatrist does not mean insane. Mental disorders can be divided into two main types - major mental disorders and minor mental disorders. In general, those whom we call insane are all part of Guru's mental illness and this number is very low. The number of adults suffering from mental illness in Bangladesh is about 16.05 percent, of which only 1 percent are mentally ill and the rest are suffering from minor mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, stressful mental illness etc. and none of them are insane. All of them are treated by psychiatrists.

There are also misconceptions about mental disorders and social stigma. In many countries of the world including Bangladesh, the idea or belief of many people, the root of mental illness is the work of jinn-ghosts, black magic, sorcery or kufr-kalam etc. As a result, they are still seeking treatment through amulets, charms, etc. Or even if they seek medical help, most patients come to seek the help of a psychiatrist in secret or with great caution.

We don't do regular walking, exercise, going to the gym, diet control, etc. to keep the body fit. But do we do anything to keep the mind fit and healthy? Many may do meditation, yoga, etc. But these alone are not enough. It will be seen that we do not feel physical problems every day, for example, a person does not have fever or body pain every day. However, there is no day when we do not feel the symptoms of any mental problem. For example, every day at some point or another we become anxious, depressed, stressed, or agitated. These are all signs of mental problems.

Also, keep in mind that experiencing these does not mean that you are mentally ill. These can ruin your mental stability even if only for a while. The reality is that if you want to live on earth, you have to deal with such problems. Every day we have to live through various worldly problems and complexities. Since we have to face various problems every day; The beautiful solution of them requires stability of mind. The stability of the mind-instability again in most cases depends on the process of thinking. Mental health stability is very important to make daily life beautiful. As we take various steps to keep the body fit; It is also important for us to adhere to certain things for the fitness of the mind.

To be good, to be beautiful and to live in peace is a matter of practice. So make it a habit to live happily in life. Keep the hobbies within reach at all times. The death of a beautiful hobby means the death of a thoughtful man. Set aside some time during the day to exercise regularly. Also, set aside at least 30 minutes each day to evaluate yourself. One thing is for sure, it is impossible to imagine a problem-free life. As long as someone lives on earth, the problem will remain in his life. But you have to deal with it on your own. There is no such thing as success in life, because life is not just about success. Life is a combination of success and failure. We have to accept this fact. You have to start your work every day with this conviction.

However, if the normal life is disrupted due to mental problems, i.e. thoughts, mental problems, etc., disrupt various areas of life such as family, social, career, education, etc., it must be treated beyond all social barriers - if necessary, seek the help of a psychiatrist. Because if this situation continues, there is a possibility that the bright potential life will end in failure one day. If you notice a sudden change in the behavior of people close to you, relatives or friends, or notice any signs of mental illness in them, sincerely advise him to seek the help of a psychiatrist. If possible, you can take him to a psychiatrist. If there is any fear in him, help him by giving him advice. It is also important for a mentally ill patient to have regular follow-up as advised by a psychiatrist for complete and proper treatment.

Improving mental health is possible through awareness and concerted efforts. Community based mental health service projects can be a role model in this regard. According to the World Health Organization, one person dies every 40 seconds due to suicide. And most people commit suicide because of mental disorders or mental illness. Therefore, the need for mental health protection to achieve overall well-being by avoiding such unwanted situations is immense.
