The world has witnessed a historic agreement between Israel & UAE

Since its creation, on the 14th of May 1948, the State of Israel is in a constant conflict with its neighbors, as well as with all Arab states. The bloody history of this state and Palestine, and the other Arab neighbors, stretches over more than 70 years already. I will not go to describe the entire history, I will just pinpoint the turning point: it happened in 1947, when the British forces drew a plan - The UN Partition Plan from 1947 - to split the present territory of Israel and Palestine. The plan was not accepted by almost all of the neighboring states and so, the wars began.

But what happened two days ago, it's another turning point in the bloody history of the conflict between these nations. Indeed, many political agreements had been signed before with tremendous consequences, both good and bad for the region.

The State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates signed a "historic peace agreement" and both states will establish diplomatic relations. The first man who announced this historic political development, even if his role in this process is called into question, was the American President Donald Trump.

The idea behind this historic event is not "huge" as Trump said. The US will hold elections this year and Trump has to do anything he can in order to get re-elected. Still, if we look at the history between Israel and the Arab states, what happened few days ago is indeed worth to mention today.

The State of Israel and the UAE promised for a better cooperation and the start of diplomatic relations. It is a big deal if we look at other Arab states, with the exception of Egypt and Jordan, that never had diplomatic relations with Israel since its creation.
* in 1979 Egypt was the first Arab country that signed a peace agreement with Israel.

But what others think?

The Palestinian organisation, Hamas, declared that this peace agreement will not serve the Palestinian cause and this will only strengthen the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. This agreement must be condemned and rejected, because it betrays and denies the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Authority also condemns the agreement and temporary recalled its ambassador from Abu Dhabi, in sign of protest. They argued that it is an outrageous decision and betrays the Palestinian cause. They asked the UAE authorities to cancel the agreement.

Iran says that the peace agreement will not ensure peace in the region, while Egypt welcomes the agreement.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey can cease its diplomatic relations with the UAE. He even mentioned that Palestine will not be forgotten.

In conclusion, the outcome of this entire story is not known in this moment. There are winners and there are losers. Peace in the region is still uncertain and escalation of other conflicts is very likely.

Trump may win some popularity, as well as Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime-minister. In the same time, due to this peace agreement, Israel promised to delay, at least for the moment, the demolition of the Palestinian houses in the West Bank.

On the other hand, all the Arab countries got irritated by this decision.

I don't except something to happen soon, but this topic is worth to follow.

Ask yourself why Americans should save the world? Why should they pay the bill for all those wars without an end? Wars fought for mainly ungrateful people, who next emigrate and misbehave? The USA is bankrupt since 2012 and if a country wants its help they should pay for it. The risks those soldiers take, returning screwed up not able to function, ever work again...we all are humans with brains and live in the same century. If we want we find a solution but we prefer to fight and kill and take what isn't ours and blame someone else. If the USA helps or not they always do it wrong.

firstly, most immigrants do not misbehave. they are vetted by the government before they are admitted. i respectfully invite you to look up crime statistics. secondly, most western countries rely on immigrants to either fill a knowledge/skills gap, or a labour gap in their population. there's a reason why big tech companies support immigration. again, i invite you to look up immigration statistics.

foreign policy has a complicated history, but think of the world as an entire classroom full of nations in place of high school kids. there are cool kids, nerds, introverts, bullies, rich kids, etc. the US wants to sell their technology, get preferential trade deals, etc. when they interact with other nations.

unless they show the world they can act as the cool kid who can protect themselves, and others, other countries will step up in their place. it's all about influence in the world. i fear the day when western nations are overshadowed by other nations with ulterior motives.

i don't have all the solutions, but if a country receives no help, and ends up collapsing, the world is not necessarily better off. look what happened to Somalia. the world abandoned that country, and it collapsed. nothing left there except anarchy. they have modern-day pirates based out of that country, and no one in that country can do anything about it.

i'm also not going to get into a discussion about what's right or what's wrong, and i definitely don't have all the answers. that's the way many countries treat foreign policy. feel free to google china's belt and road initiative...they want to achieve cool kid status too. it's a complicated world out there.

Sorry, but I disagree with you if it comes to jobs and knowledge. Indeed it is a complicated world we live in. One where is measured with many different standards. My grandparents/father are immigrants so I know what the world looks like. How they and I still try to fit in, are discriminated...

You are very good at this, my friend. I would be more than glad to debate more issues with you.

I think it's more about history. The US prefers a more direct approach, offensive and military in most of the cases, because they have the means to do so (I'm not saying this in a negative way). While the EU for example prefers a more diplomatic approach.

I think the history goes way further and these countries abuse the different ways of approaching too.

What shall I say? In some way, it is huge since if you ask me this whole war thing is based on "rights" Israel claims to have because of a story in the Bible. I really hope like Erdogan says the world will not forget about Palestine. Somehow it feels to me there's something seriously wrong here.

It's really hard to say whose rights are breached honestly. I, as a political scientist, don't want to be subjective when talking about such a topic. What happened, indeed, is huge, looking at it from a theoretical perspective. Now we have to wait and see what's going to really happen.
