Often times we always misunderstood the differences and relationship between these two; mission statement and vision statement, but in the real sense one has to do with the present while the other has to do with later i mean future.

What's the difference between a vision and mission

The vision statement in real sense focuses on the tomorrow and planning on what the organization wants to achieve or become in the future, while the mission statement focuses and has something to do with today and what the organisation does. Most often both are used interchangeable, but it's important to have both because one doesn't work without the other and because purpose and meaning are very critical for the survival of your business.

What do we mean by mission statement?

The mission statement drives your company, it's the plan you you do today and shapes the company's culture. The mission statement questions always looks like;

  • Whom the company serve

  • What do we do

  • How do we serve the customers.

What is a vision statement?

The vision statement gives the company direction and makes the focus on the objective of the company, it's about what you want to become, which means aspirations. The vision statement questions always looks like;

  • What problem is the company solving for the greater good?

  • Who and what is the company aspiring to change?

  • What is the company hopes and dreams?

In the real sense, the vision statement promotes growth within the company and outside the company, and a strong vision helps team focus on what matters to the growth of the company. While mission statement gives the company clue and reason for them to grow and know why they are in business, this has to do with the presence and what the company is set to achieve.
