Today's child is tomorrow's leader - now there is no room for doubt. A new world will be built by their hands. But for many reasons, this dream of building children is disappearing at a young age. When a newborn baby grows slowly, his family and society start weaving a web of dreams with him. But it is seen that many children, as a result of engaging themselves in various kinds of labor at an early age, can no longer make that dream come true. In most cases, due to poverty, children carry the burden of the family on their shoulders at the risk of their lives. At the age when he is supposed to spend his days laughing and playing, at the age when he is supposed to go to school with his book in hand, at that age he has to take up a lot of risky work. Who is responsible for this condition? Our society, or the state? To protect workers' rights, the Government of Bangladesh has enacted the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006 (Amendment-2013). Section 34 of the Act states that no child or adolescent under the age of 14 may be employed or allowed to work in any profession or institution. But today, all of a sudden, all kinds of risky work is being done with the children around. In some situations where a child is involved in labor, he does not have time to realize that he is being deprived of any kind of opportunity or right. Many children are engaged in various activities in search of livelihood due to the situation. A class of selfish people in the society is taking advantage of that opportunity and inhumanely exploiting children at low wages in the hope of making more profit. Inhumane treatment of child laborers is going on without heeding the rules and regulations. The bosses never treat the child laborers well, they are constantly exploited, cheated out of fair wages, physically and mentally abused. The children who will one day run the country, the hopes, dreams, beliefs of the whole nation, today they are involved in many risky activities and are uncertain about their future. Much like this, it is like falling before the flowers bloom. In many cases, children are forced to exchange labor for poverty. They are the children of a very poor family. As a result, the parents of poor families were once forced to send their children to do various jobs in search of food. Usually child laborers are involved in housework, small mills, rickshaw pullers, tempo helpers, hotel boys.
Studies have shown that most of the families involved in child labor are struggling with poverty. But they are not getting the rights they deserve. However, there is no single cause of child labor, there are multiple causes. Child labor is a curse for the country and the nation. At the same time, due to poverty, children are being involved in various jobs at an early age, as well as being deprived of their basic rights. The government needs to be more vigilant in protecting the rights of children so that they are not deprived of their basic rights. The existing laws on children's rights must be properly enforced. It is not possible for government and non-government organizations to solve the problem through child labor alone. On the contrary, in order to free the children from this situation, the professional civil society of the country, policy makers, commercial organizations and all should come forward together. Only then will the children be saved from child labor.
