When we think about happiness we think love, money, family etc. We spend a lot of time finding ways to be happy but we don’t often think about the chemicals in our brains that makes us feel happiness.

Do you know that the feeling you get from a long hug is caused by a different chemical than the feeling you get after exercising?

Four chemicals and hormones in our brain DOPAMINE, OXYTOCIN, SEROTONIN and ENDORPHINS (DOSE) are responsible for that positive feeling we get when we’re happy.

Here’s how we can increase and use them in our daily lives.

DOPAMINE- The Reward Chemical
By completing a task
Celebrating little wins
Doing self care activities
Eating food

OXYTOCIN- The Love Hormone
Playing with a dog
Playing with a baby
Holding hands
Giving compliments
Hugging your friends or family

SEROTONIN- The Mood Stabilizer Meditating
Running
Cycling
Swimming
Sun exposure
Walk outdoors in nature

ENDORPHINS- The Pain Killer
Laughter
Essential oils
Dark chocolate
Watching a comedy
Exercising

I hope you can add these things to your daily routine and make yourself happy no matter your circumstances.
