Gradually Overcoming..
Dec 16,2021, lots of Provinces have been destroyed by super typhoon Odette. One of them was Leyte. Before Christmas came, houses, power, reception, mountains and source of income of people were ruined.
Christmas eve was dark, but I can still see smile and laughter around the streets celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ.
We Filipinos tend to find stress reliever as always after any circumstances. As most of the coconut trees were also ruined. Some people take the coconut and make coconut fruit/salad out of it with some other ingredients like biscuit, royal soda and some would add condense milk. It's called "lamaw" in our dialect, ingredients also varies with places.
December 17 until first week of January, the rain is non stop in our place. We have lived in our house like the picture below.
After the Typhoon Odette, we lived in the house like the picture above for a month and one day. It was really hard as almost every day it rained cats and dogs. It feels like theres a typhoon everyday. I know there people who have suffered more than what we have experienced but we are all still thankful because we are safe. As what most of the people said "importante buhi". So, life is more worth it than those earthly things like houses and other things we've lost due to the typhoon.
So yes, January 15. Finally, the lumberjack is available. We have trees already. I have received 3k pesos from work. It's a financial assistance from work. All employees who have been affected by the said typhoon had received 3k work of cash.
I and mama have a small savings, so we were able to buy corrugated metal roof. We also received 3 pieces of corrugated roof from mama's cousin. It was a big help since we lost 17 roofs in total.
So, that's the result after a day. We are so happy. No worries about the rain and the heavy wind anymore. There's no sound of roof sheet during day and night when the wind is blowing.
While kitchen and comfort room are under repair, we clean the two rooms and we put tide powder and fabric conditioner to eliminate the bad smell since it's full of water like a swimming pool during those days without roof.
The last two pictures were captured on the second day of repairing the house.
Before the restoration of the house, we used table plastic cover only so the rain won't go inside the other half of the house. Though when wind will blow, there's a bit water will enter but it won't get us and our things be wet.
We can't sleep sound when there's a heavy rain and wind as we get wet a bit and the sound of the sheets roof would get us awake.
However, we still don't lost hope that we can make it thru. That we can still have comfortable life with complete roof and would not worry about the rain and the wind.
Let us all be positive thinkers as always with action and prayer so as time passed by we can overcome whatever we had experienced with.
I hope that everyone who lost their houses too like us, you guys are able to repeir your house too and I hope that you also received help from your relative, friends and from government.
It is arduous to survive nowadays on our own especially when we don't have savings or cash for emergency like what we had experienced.
I also hope that everyone learned from it. That whenever there's a typhoon we should be prepared. Coz as what I have observed before the typhoon happens, people including me were just too comfy that the typhoon won't hit us that hard. Some never packed their things, even the most important one, the clothes and other stuff for work. Unlike the typhoon Yolanda before. Roofs were tied with bamboo trees so it won't be blown the wind and evacuate right away prior to the landing of the typhoon.
Our house until now is still under repair. I'll upload some photos on noise.cash once it's done.
Happy earnings and reading, read.cash readers and friends. Thank you for your undying support especially to my one and only sponsor.
