Nowadays, technology advances very rapidly. Technological progress is marked by the existence of social media. Almost everyone has social media, both from adults, teenagers, even children. Social media has dominated the world in recent years. Social media has now become everyone's need, and in this modern era playing social media has become a necessity that cannot be missed by its users.

In daily activities, it will not be complete if we do not play social media. Sometimes social media is a source of profit for anyone who plays social media. The existence of social media makes it easier for us to communicate without being hindered by the existing distance. With the existence of social media can bring us who are far away, but also can keep us close. This is actually not good. The more time we spend online on social media, the less time we have to socialize with the people around us.

Currently, there seems to be a tendency for internet users to put aside ethical values. Whereas in the social order, ethics is needed so that there is no friction that leads to conflict. Social media has several kinds of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other social media, and currently the trend among children and teenagers is online games. the many interesting features on social media make users tend to be lazy and eventually addicted, this situation makes a lot of users' time wasted and activities become disrupted, such as school, studying, working, and socializing with the surrounding environment.

What happens if we are too addicted to playing social media and all the activities we do are neglected. Addiction to playing social media can disrupt our lives and often make our emotions unstable. In addition, it can also cause serious health problems, such as sleep disorders, stress, and mental disorders. Sleep disturbance is one of the symptoms of depression. If this is the case, it's time for us to take a break from social media. The reasons for the need to take a break from social media, namely:

Protect ourselves from overthinking

Every day a lot of information that we can get from social media. From the amount of information that is spread, it makes us less able to know which information is true and which is hoax information (not necessarily the truth). It makes us think and feel anxious to the point that sometimes we need time to think about things that are not necessarily true. In fact, the bad comments that other people give on the posts we make can make us afraid to express ourselves. Therefore, it is important for us to take a break from social media.

Social media makes us lose confidence

By playing social media, it is possible to see posts from people who trigger us to feel a loss of confidence, for example, posts in the form of other people's travel activities, awards that other people have received, other people's successes achieved or achieved, etc. This can make us pay more attention to the lives of others and compare our own lives. Although we can't be sure that the post is not necessarily a reflection of their real life. If this bothers us and worries us. It's time we need to rest to avoid excessive anxiety, because it will have an impact on our own lives.

Our daily activities become neglected and hampered

We can't get past our routine when it comes to playing social media. But if we are too addicted to playing social media and even forget the time, this will only harm ourselves. Work and daily activities that should be done at that time become hampered, even neglected. As a result, we often procrastinate because we are too busy playing social media. It's better to finish our work first and do what is our daily priority.

Can ruin quality time with family and friends

There are times when we have to be able to divide our time between playing social media and doing quality time with family or friends. While hanging out with them, you should take advantage of this time by sharing stories, joking, or even going on vacation together, don't keep playing social media. Because time with family and friends is precious. Don't waste every rare moment like that.

From the several reasons above, it is clear that every individual needs a break from playing social media. There is nothing wrong with us taking a break from social media if social media is felt to interfere with our lives. Because we have the right to live comfortably.

I think this is what I should do. I've been so unproductive and it's just right I supposed to take a break from using any social media platforms. Undeniably, it is really addicting.

I'm doing it slowly actually. I think I'll just leave a few that are still needed for communication purposes. Those that are less important that somehow take too much of my time, I uninstalled them one by one.
