Road Trip Through Arizona

Whether you are planning on driving through Arizona, in the USA, or you are just passing through, there are a few places you really should stop at and take a look. From a local, it will be worth it.

  • Grand Canyon

    • I could not list this, because honestly, it's worth seeing. When something takes over 15 million years to create, you give it a bit of respect. There are many ways to see this wonder. You can either hike down it (will take all day), camp, take the Williams Train up, raft down the river, visit Havasu Pi, and more. Just make sure to check the weather first. You do not want to go if fires are going on nearby or it's foggy.

  • Sedona Red Rock County

    • Can not get to the Grand Canyon, then this is the second best place to visit. Full of red rocks, breathtaking views, varieties of hikes, great food, and an area that is known for its vortex (swirling centers of energy to help with meditation, healing, and an overall positive experience) by some.

    • Another treat located in Sedona, is Slide Rock State Park. A natural type of water slide that you can enjoy when it is hot.

  • Petrified National Forest and Painted Desert:

    • Drive or get out to hike the marked spots on this 27 mile drive through what once was a vast forest over 225 million years ago. Now, the landscape is full of petrified wood that look like rocks. Mother Nature is amazing on what can be created from something decaying. Attached to this park is the Painted Desert National Park, which is home to rolling hills of multicolored layers. Located east of Flagstaff, on the Interstate 40.

  • The Lower and Upper Antelope Canyons

    • Everyone has seen the pictures at one point in your life. Either on some desktop screensaver or somewhere on the internet. The famous canyons are know for the light beams that frequent the canyons. A definitely must see and located near Page, Arizona, in the top northern portion of the state.

    • Since you are so close, check out Horseshoe Bend for views of the Grand Canyon River. Best times is towards evening. Be warned, there is no railings and people have slipped off the edge. It's a long ways down and unfortunately the chances would not be in your favor.

  • Montezuma's Castle

    • Located off of highway 17, between Phoenix and Sedona is this great place to see a part of the Native Americans history before others settled.

These are a few of the many places that call Arizona home. Ever in my state, stay a bit and look around. We have some pretty amazing places to see and great ways to do it too. Happy Travels!

The Antelope Canyon isn't far from Monument Valley, where a lot of movies have used for different scenes. The most popular one is the Forest Gump movie when he is running.
