Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to all those celebrating Christmas globally. Forget & forgive and enjoy your day with family and friends.
When it comes to Christmas I think of my School and College days. As Christmas and New Year go hand-in-hand we are blessed with a short vacation. A time to rejoice with family and friends.
Prior to the vacation their is a game played in each classroom. Just two days before Christmas. The game goes this way....the name of each student is written in a paper and folded and put in lots. After which we are asked to pick a name from the lots. So none of us knows who gets whom. Later we are asked to purchase a Christmas gift ๐ for the said friend and give to him or her. Years after , the same was continued in the school where I was working as a librarian. The only change was we have to give a clue by word or action about the person for whom the gift is. It was such fun.
I do have a collection of friends who celebrate Christmas with great pomp. Decorating Christmas ๐ tree ๐ณ a wรจek before and placing the tree with colour bulbs. Finally placing colourful lighted stars ๐ in their garden. It just makes the whole lane colourful and bright.
When it comes to delicacies, cake is one of the item which cannot be avoided. Most of them here go for plum cake. They are rich in raisins, cherries that are colourful, nuts......they are good in baking it themself at their home. We even get a chance to get a bite of this delicious cake. Moreover, we are invited for having lunch with them.
Far away we could here Christmas Carol in a chorus voice. A week before the church and its surroundings are fully lighted with colourful stars making the entire place shine. And it becomes such a busy place as there are street vendors selling all kinds of toys, sweets, clothes and other eatables etc. at a very low price.
Bye ๐ for now with the expectation that this day was memorable for all those who celebrated.
Thank you for your good wishes. I hope you also have a great time in the way your customs celebrate the holidays.
