As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens friend.
-King Solomon
When I was a child, I used to have a lot of friends. Wherever I go, I always find companions. I don't know, but I just love making friends with other people. I always wear my big bright smile back then. Of course, as a kid, I wanted to have a lot of playmates to play with me. Some of them doesn't really like me from the start but as soon as they found out that I always treat my friends, BOOM! They automatically smiled and play with me.
Being a child with an innocent mind, I really don't care if they just befriended me because I treat them. All that matters to me is that I have a lot of friends to play with. I was even rewarded as most friendly in our classroom during my elementary years.
But just anything else, my perception change-as it is the only constant thing in this world, when I reached the 9th grade. But I think that would be in another article since it very a long story.
I've meet a lot of people and entered a lot of different circle of friends.
A different circle of friends from elementary, high school, and college. I must say that meeting different kind of people is such a wonderful experience. Each of them teaches me a lot lessons and shares joyful moments.
Some would bring out the craziness in me. Some shows me the beauty of solitude. Some made me realized that I can be more. Some inspires me to be kind to every people we meet. Some would made me feel like I am the most bad influence person ever. Some introduced me to the world of business and etc.
Different, yet they're part of who I am today. They were the imperfect person who makes my life perfectly balanced.
It indeed, very important to choose your companions wisey for they will represent of who you are as a person. Our friends were somehow our reflections.
We should surround ourselves with people who would help us grow as an individual no matter what it takes.
I maybe surrounded with different types of people. But they have this TWO common things that made me stay with those circles despite of its differences.
Encouragement
I believe that everyone experiences failures, mistakes and downfalls at some point in our lives. It is inevitable.
It even says in the song, "Even the best fall down sometimes".
We all stumble and get discourage. No one's perfect. We are human, we are bound to make mistakes. That's why it is very important to have someone in our side to encourage us in times like this.
Someone who would lift you up because he cares for you. Someone who would sit beside us and tap our back saying "It's okay. You've done a great job."
Someone who would stay and believe in you even if everybody turn their back on you.
A friend that would give you a warm hug and smile after you've messed up because of your stupid decisions in life. The kind of pal who's willing to waste his time just to listen to your rants in life.
An encouragement from a friend or even by someone you just met truly gives a big impact to our lives.
Corrections
It is indeed true that encouragemet is very important, but so is correction.
Encouragement will help us rise again
But correction will mold us into the best version of ourselves if we just learned how to accept it in our hearts.
Sometimes, growth doesn't come in pleasure. Just like how plants need to be prune in order to grow beautifully than it is before.
Irons need each other to sharpen one another. If it is left alone, it will be dull and rusty (This is not you @TheRandomRewarder ).
We humans are just like those things, corrections are needed in order for us grow in all aspects of our lives.
As what I have said, humans is known for creating stupid decisions in life. We all do. Don't you ever deny.
It is the reason why we must have someone who's not afraid to punch us in the face everytime we do this stupidity (just joking, but if it is necessary then why not?).
Someone who would rather choose to stab us a bit than watch us slowly tearing ourselves apart. Don't care if we would get mad at them for correcting us than let us go astray.
Friends who's not afraid to correct you out of love are the ones that is worth to keep.
Closing Thought
Surround yourself with people who has the same principles, ideas and agenda as yours. People who will encourage you when you have nothing left, and people who are willing to correct you just to lead you in the right path again.
P.S
This is dedicated to all my friends.
And to Ms. @immaryandmerry , I really don't know you that much but thank you so much for encouraging me. This article is for you.
