Politics is an art of taking part in the activities leading to the formation and operation of a political party. Where political party had been formed in a system then its operational activities Byleading to an election and thereafter forming a government is generally regarded as politics.

Political activities in this present dispensation involves attending a meeting where so many issues are discussed in conjunction with so many other people where crucial decisions are taking in the overall interest of many with a view to outwitting other political parties , may be , as politics. Political activities do not exclude young men and women to take part in and likewise old men and women that are still strong are also in the picture. Therefore all are expected to combine together effectively to devise strategy leading to winning of seats in the local Assembly Parliament in the local Government Council Election. Then it is the duty of Political Parties to present candidates for all categories of election in both Executive and legislative Arms of Government be it State Assembly Election and thereafter National Assembly Election . All these elections are conducted by unbiased umpire called Electoral Commission.

There's no disputing the fact that all these activities involve the participation of all and sundry therefore everyone is expected to be involved in all of these. The issue is that in many fora ,politics is regarded as dirty game which implies that it is meant for vagabonds and riffraffs and dredges within the society and at a time when electoral reforms have not been introduced , electoral disputes are settled with a lot of rancours , fight and acrimony making the whole process frightening and highly intimidating. All these combine together make the process to be scary and sending wrong signals to the outside world. The egg heads refuse to take part in the political activities leaving the fields for barbaric people with low quality brain.. Leaving politics for bad people have bad impact on the polity.

Of a truth , there are several reasons why it is not good to sit on the fence as regards local and national politics. There are reasons why you should not feel unconcerned to local and national politics.

The reasons why it is wrong to feel unconcerned to how politics is run in your cpintry. To feel unconcercerned is to get prepared to bear the brunt of incompetent leaders at the helms of affairs.

Other reasons include .,

A Nation belongs to all her citizens , therefore to make it great all hands must be on ground to ensure that all potentials are fully tapped and mobilized for the full growth and development of that nation. Everyone must be ready to contribute his own quota through voluntary political participation. If everyone decides to abstain from political participation , who would stick out his neck ? The point is that if good people decides to leave politics for bad people to run then the outcome will be bad on the nation and her citizens. Therefore , we should all join hands together to build the nation.

Without doubt , where political activities are left for certain set of people , fresh ideas will not set in and reforms will not be possible. There's a need for fresh heads and ideas to pomp in and be integrated with the old ones. Any system that doesn't allow for fresh ideas is bound to fail and doe of. In this case therefore , political participation is necessary for each and every member of the society so that fresh thought , strategy , ideas can come to the nation forward.

Every society needs everyone ideas to move it forward. If some people decided to stay aloof there won't be progress. Progress is made when a system is injected with new people with new thinking quite different from what is in vogue before. There are several ways through which a system could be run,and this is possible to surface when the system is allowed to be mingle with new source of ideas .

Democracy goes along with mass participation and Mass ideas . Where some people jettisoned democracy then this could provide avenue for autocratic leaders to come in. Autocracy is direct opposite of democracy with fewer number of people participating, this doesn't go along with modern day system of government that is in operation in many of the civilized countries of the world.

Don't sit on the fence when it comes to political participation and activities. It doesn't augur well for the peace of the society and it would prevent it from moving forward as expected.
