MANIFESTO OF AJIBOYE DANIEL OREOLUWA, ASPIRANT OF THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SECRETARY UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN STUDENT UNION CHAPTER.
I, Ajiboye Daniel vying for the office of GENERAL SECRETARY UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN STUDENT UNION CHAPTER, in addition to the constitutional duties of the UI'SU General Secretary stated in _Article V section 3 of the student union constitution amended in 1998/99 session_, the following are my plans:
A. Electronic documentation and Preservation (e-secretariat)
The e-secretariat is going to be a website system used to manage union meetings and appointments, and compile various directives and solutions.
While the E might stand for *Electronic* , with Ajiboss as your General Secretary, it stands for *Efficient*
E archive is the selective, strict and automated information system for e-document storage that guarantees relatability, security, differentiation of access rights and monitoring of document history.
If elected, I intend to create an automated system whereby all union executives can frequently be updated or notified on meeting dates, appointments and also store important correspondents and other union documents online for safe keeping, security with limited and restricted access to the public or specific union executives.
Asides creating the automated website with personal knowledge of basic applications like Trello or Asana, important union information can however be duplicated; one thing I have learnt from being a Library Archival and Information Science student is multiple duplication of resources to print and non-print format. By print it includes paper and preservation agents included. While non-print include hard drives, flash drives and online archives.
if trusted with this position, I will ensure creation of an E- Secretariat and E- archive in a website for accountability, reliability and security of union secretariat.
B. Provision of Printer or Duplication means.
Upon several enquires discovered when I visited the former General Secretary of the Student Union Unibadan, he gave a brief and remarkable problem he faced during his tenure which included the problem of funding for duplication of Important correspondents and letters due to lack of reliable printer and printing materials in the office of the union.
I have ready sponsors willing and available to sponsor the purchase of a new printer in the office of the general secretary. The proposed purchase will be available for use to all students at five Naira per print, these funds will then be used to purchase more printing paper and fund repairs. While as a substitute for printer or photocopier. To save cost of printing and budget, letters can be duplicated and sent via email interaction. Furthermore, it can be used to send important sponsorship messages, correspondents for sponsorship, external and internal agencies alongside union executives.
C. Renovation of the reception office
During the cause of my research on the office of General Secretary University of Ibadan, I realised the reception room leading to the office of the General Secretary is quite a wreck; leaking roof, bad furniture and dirty room space.
On resumption, I plan to firstly in conjunction with the house secretary, renovate the reception leading to the office of the General Secretary and also clean it so it can be more accessible and presentable to other Executive’ visitors, and also house the proposed purchase of printer for students to use. Also I have sponsorship team availed to support this renovation cause.
D. Suggestion box
After spending close to two years in the university of Ibadan, I realized that all students have their differences and problems they are facing in halls of residence, department and faculty. We all have some sort of complaint, suggestions we would like to tender to the higher university authority but the relationship between the union executives are not as strengthened as it should be due to the banning. I personally will ensure this relationship is strengthened within my constitutional duties by creating a complaint or suggestions box everywhere in school where students can put any form of letter or complaint in any format either letter or short notes. Not all students can openly come out to tender their request, complaints because we are wired differently. I seek to ensure anonymity of all students in tendering their problems, complaints and requests. A committee will be set up to frequently to censor and look into these boxes weekly or monthly to strengthen student union relationship.
