Culture and Art are Symbols of Civilization
Civilization is the reflection of art, thought, science and technology products integrated with the culture of a society to practical life. It is the accumulation of the human mind and the emotions of the labor that emerged with the support of science and technology as a result of the developments that lasted for thousands of years. Civilization both facilitates and improves the life of human beings on this earth.
When the economy, industrial power, agricultural sector, working life, lifestyle and level of a country are examined, the level of civilization is revealed along with the understanding of art and culture of that country. Countries that want to progress and develop must first of all be civilized. In the name of civilization, they have to take culture and art as the crown jewel. Because the industrial level, agricultural power and economy that do not pass through these two high-level filters and control and do not receive their support can never reach the level of civilized countries.
While civilization brings scientific competence to human life thanks to culture, it also beautifies it with the contribution of art. No matter how technology and equipment develop, without the finesse, beauty and guidance of culture and art, civilization cannot develop at full speed because it will be devoid of tolerance, forgiveness, unconditional love. However, he walks or develops with a limp.
World civilization has emerged as a result of countries' interaction and learning from each other. Starting from the depths of history, the contribution and truth of China, India, Mesopotamia, Greek, Egypt, Roman civilizations, the European enlightenment age, America and Japan on this issue is indisputable.
Culture is the identity of society. Lifestyle is the accumulation of language, thoughts and feelings. Beliefs, norms, customs and traditions are ways of thinking. In addition to these spiritual elements, the structure, architecture, tools and equipment, techniques, art structures, parks, places of worship and museums of cities also constitute material cultural assets.
A society's culture is unique, unique to its history. This culture is formed by the accumulation of mind, scientific studies and the life process of that society and the lifestyle adopted by the majority. The members of the society are also living elements that carry the culture.
Culture is not static and changes over time. Different cultures influence each other. Social changes occur as a result of cultural exchange. This exchange allows people to get to know each other, to be more loving and tolerant. Social cultures can become the common culture of the world over time.
Cultural change in society takes place faster in material items. Spiritual changes take time. Even though this rapid change and development is accepted by the society very quickly, it may not be able to keep up with the living culture at the same speed. For example, the "mobile phone", which started to be used in the early 1990s, has taken over the world in a very short time. So much so that there are many users who use their mobile phones by talking loudly everywhere, even in environments such as cinemas, theaters, concerts and seminars.
The rise of "Art" in societies with a rising cultural level is undeniable. Art is the world of human emotion, thought, enthusiasm, inspiration and imagination; It is to be expressed in a beautiful, original, impressive way that invites the viewer to a higher dimension by hearing, seeing, reading, through line, sound, form, color and rhythm.
“The art of influencing”, “the art of eloquence” and “the art of living”, which have settled into our language and are used frequently, are word groups formed by utilizing the connotation power of the word art. In other words, the presence of beautiful and impressive qualities in a job, an activity, an action makes it close to art. The more we glorify a work, the more we do it with enthusiasm and sincerity, the more beautiful, impressive and original we can add to what we do, the closer we get to the "Art Dimension".
From this point of view, I would not like to pass without mentioning a fine point that we need to be enlightened about art. Art is not just a painting on the wall, a sculpture in a city park, an ornament. It is not a reason to show off and brag.
Art is respect, tolerance, beauty, love of people and nature, environmentalism that integrates with human life. Goodness, beauty, truth. Because art develops a person's self, elevates his feelings, educates him, and brings his soul to peace and vitality. As Tolstoy said, “The purpose of art is to reveal emotions, to lead people to the right path and happiness...”
If the society applies these concepts in their daily life, people's creative powers, their power to see the more beautiful and better, to recognize and transfer them to life will be sharpened. "A nation without art means that one of the lifebloods of a nation is severed," and I explained how important culture and art are for a society, by saying, "No country that has not reached a place in art and culture cannot develop in industry, economy and technology, and cannot be at the forefront of the race for civilization." I want to end.
