Coach yourself to reach your goals
Sometimes it is difficult for us to move towards our goals because of the routine intensity in our lives. Let alone remembering the dreams we want to realize, we find ourselves in a scenario where we are thrown to wherever the wind blows. It is as if the roles have been handed out to us, and we are playing those roles unwillingly. Because of this scenario that develops beyond our control, we lose our joy, sometimes it is difficult to get out of bed...
We find ourselves in the cycle of hedonic pleasures of short-term pleasures, shopping, eating, and unfortunately these pleasures are temporary. Pleasures do not fill the emptiness within us when we do not remember very well our purpose, why we are here, and what we strive for. At such times, if we cannot get outside help, it is necessary to return to ourselves and remember what we actually want to do, what we want to be and what kind of a trace we want to leave. One of the most effective tools to return to yourself is coaching. Below I leave you a 4-step method that you can use to coach yourself at the beginner level.
1-What areas of your life do you want to improve? (For example, work, relationship, social area, skills, mind, body, health…)
2-What result do you want to achieve in these areas? (For example, being more confident, getting better at your job, improving your relationship with your partner, learning a new skill…)
3-Identify the daily steps you need to take to reach this goal. (For example, take 15 minutes every day to learn something new to be good at work, plan at least one good time activity each week to improve your relationship with your partner, spend at least 15 seconds each day cuddling…)
4-Write down the factors and solutions that might hinder this step. (For example, if the obstacle to being good at work is lack of time, as a solution, you can reduce the time you spend on social media by 15 minutes, or if you can't spare time for your partner due to children's responsibilities, you can ask your elders to watch the children for a few hours one day a week.)
Although each item is very important here, item 4 will make it easier for you to take a step for change, as it reminds you of the factors that may pose an obstacle to the decisions you take and helps you find solutions. We tend to blame the outside for matters in our lives, but change always starts from within. “Challenges” on the outside try to show us what needs to change inside. In order to see the things we need to change about ourselves and take steps, you can consider which areas of your life have the most difficulties. Because these challenges give you clues about where change should happen.
