There are cultures and cultures. The ones you haven't seen are the ones you are yet to explore. There is a part of the world where brooms are used as kitchen utensils.

The Yorubas are people who occupy the Southern part of Nigeria. This set of people eat jute leave as a delicious delicacy. The broom which they call "Ijabe" is what they use for blending the leaves to make them smooth and eatable.

The Yoruba culture pays attention to cleanliness and health. This particular broom is bought for the purpose of cooking. This is why this broom is called "Ijabe" ;soup blender and not "Igbale"; sweeper. Any Yoruba that you know has one in his/her kitchen. Why not join in? Get your "Ijabe" and start enjoying your Jute soup with eba, amala, semovita and so on.
