Broom as a Kitchen Utensil
There are cultures and cultures. The ones you haven't seen are the ones you are yet to explore. There is a part of the world where brooms are used as kitchen utensils.
The Yorubas are people who occupy the Southern part of Nigeria. This set of people eat jute leave as a delicious delicacy. The broom which they call "Ijabe" is what they use for blending the leaves to make them smooth and eatable.
The Yoruba culture pays attention to cleanliness and health. This particular broom is bought for the purpose of cooking. This is why this broom is called "Ijabe" ;soup blender and not "Igbale"; sweeper. Any Yoruba that you know has one in his/her kitchen. Why not join in? Get your "Ijabe" and start enjoying your Jute soup with eba, amala, semovita and so on.
When should Sex Education Begin?
I practically boil when I hear the word "rape". I believe we can't imagine anything more wicked. I simply believe that we can't prevent it without sex education. What age does it start? How do we tell a 15 months old about her or his body? These are the questions we intend to answer.
I believe that our kids will not be vulnerable so let's start from the dressing. Most times we let them remain without their clothes once they are in the house. We should reduce that. Helping them to remain dressed will create a sense of self ownership in them.
Also we should teach them that any part of their body below their navel and above their knees is called "the private part". Teach them that private means something that they only can control. Teach them to say "stop it" and "no" when there is an intrusion. Teach them to tell you when they feel an uncomfortable presence. Apart from "teaching" them we should "learn" to respect their view.
Finally, teach them how to comport themselves when they are outside the home. They should not go into hidden places; they should not leave a place with any outsider to get gifts; they should not play nasty games with other kids. Not to forget, we should teach them to trust us. I wish us all a safe trip as we begin the journey to raising the world's smartest kids!
Snoring Means Luck!
It's night and many of us are preparing to sleep. I mean it's weekend and we are all excited! Yes! For some people snoring comes with sleep. They may not like it as much as other people don't. However, one thing that they do not understand is that "snoring means luck!". Luck? How? Read on!
For these people, the muscle in the upper airway relaxes. This way air forces its way out; the cause of the vibration. If this muscle is completely relaxed, airflow is completely stopped. This means death! These people are alive and snoring! They are lucky! When someone snores beside you, you should see a bundle of luck and love!
However, this health condition demands attention. Talk to your physician. Sleep healthy and have an amazing weekend!
This Theory can Change your Life Forever.
What if that depression that you feel is a creation of your dream and your reality is completely different from what you see? What if you do not have any worries? What if your worries are nonexistent creatures of your imagination? Have you ever heard of the theory of the mind?
This is a theory backed by science that states that we do not see the world as it is. Instead we see it as we "think" it is. Why do cultures differ? Why is this acceptable here and it is an abomination there? It is because even as we occupy the same planet we have different realities!
Don Miguel Ruiz says "don't take things personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you're immune to the opinion and actions of others, you wont be a victim of needless suffering?" Will you be the god of your reality or labour for the tongue of others? Will you break those boundaries or dwell forever in the shackles of your imagination? Will you soar in your reality or slip into a dream that was never even there?
