2. Successes, Progress and setbacks 📊
Ian Blas - BCH Argentina
On March 2nd they were able to launch the BCH Argentina website. Roger Ver joined the launch through a video call. They are currently working on fine-tuning logistical and operational details.
Launching of a support number for Bitcoin Cash. Merchants can call to request the necessary information and they offer support to merchants throughout the process.
They have managed to incorporate 19 new merchants to Bitcoin Cash. They provide POP material such as stickers, user guides, as well as support on how to use the Bitcoin.com wallet.
They are preparing a Meetup for April 9 and then, on April 10, a seminar that includes a basic cryptocurrency course.
Merchant audit. The Bitcoin Cash Argentina team periodically performs audits on merchants that are on the Bitcoin.com merchants map. They have reported some cases of merchants that no longer exist or currently no longer make cryptos.
Exchange controls make it impossible to incorporate Bitcoin Cash in the local postnet, so it is compulsorily necessary to use wallets as a means of payment.
The official dollar exchange rate. Due to the existing exchange control in the country, the exchange rate shown in the Bitcoin.com wallet is considerably lower. The BCH Argentina team has suggested some changes in the calculation formula to the wallet programmers.
Finally they are designing a calculator for the web where users can see the live and real time exchange rate (Unofficial) of the Peso/Dollar and its subsequent conversion to Bitcoin Cash.
Ian, offered general recommendations for new participants present during the call, based on their experience in order to accelerate the adoption process in the region:
Set up a work team:
Person in charge of Adoption (visit stores).
Person in charge of Web content (if they have it).
Person in charge of social media content (It is important to maintain a presence in social networks with content in line with the work being done).
Start talking to the closest circles of people, since trust is built more quickly in these circles.
Once you reach new circles you can start to execute adoption activities in merchant Hubs. The team behind BCH Argentina managed to onboard the hub company alquilatucancha.com that has more than 100 affiliated courts and consequently now they also accept Bitcoin Cash.
Guille Herbst - Argentina
Proposed to the Bitcoin Cash Argentina team to pursue adoption within a “Salada”, which is a type of informal commerce market common in Argentina.
Proposed, suggesting to the Bitcoin.com wallet team, the possibility of automatically transforming Bitcoin Cash to a stablecoin within the same wallet. The idea is to make it easier for merchants to protect their capital against variations in the crypto market.
Encourage the Bitcoin Cash Argentina team to pursue adoption within commercial chains.
Roberto
His participation was limited due to problems with the microphone. However, he was recognized for his hard work for Bitcoin Cash Adoption in Barquisimeto, Venezuela where he managed to onboard 24 new businesses during March. Congratulations!
Luis Rodriguez - Venezuela
Liquidity on local.bitcoin.com continues to be a problem in the region. He wrote to Corby asking about efforts to improve this situation.
The local.bitcoin.com team responded that efforts are being made to correct the deficiencies in the platform.
Getting in and out of cryptos is a frequent question among merchants. Luis recommends promoting Binance P2P (while the situation improves with local.bitcoin.com) along with alternatives like Instabitcoincash and Sideshift.ai. He doesn’t recommend Bitfinex since it has a difficult identity verification process.
It is important to educate users and merchants to defer exchange to Dollars or Stablecoins such as Tether. Stablecoins pose a significant risk.
Marcelo - Argentina
It is planned to resume meetups periodically with special emphasis on teaching users how to control their private keys.
Explaining the difference between using a decentralized and centralized platforms and how the first one allows to control the private keys.
Explaining how to get out of cryptos by swapping to USDT (Tether) whose functionality is integrated in the Bitcoin.com wallet. Explaining them that it is a transitory solution, because as we all know they are a kind of fractional reserve, over another fractional reserve system.
COPE - Chile
He participated by asking several questions inherent to the development of Bitcoin Cash and other relevant questions.
3. Welcome to the New Adoption Leaders 🚀
