BCH Meetup Organizer Monthly Meeting

  1. Welcome 

  1. Organizer Updates - Success & Challenges/Covid

    1. Argentina:  Meetup on Friday. Created BCH custom t-shirts to give to members. Launched new website and hosted an event to celebrate. Onboarded 22 new businesses in a short period.

One merchant (https://alquilatucancha.com) allows reservations for 400 playing fields (soccer, football, etc.). 

  1. Detroit, Michigan: Organizer runs a convenience store in Detroit Michigan which accepts BCH. Bars and restaurants are starting to open slowly. He’s using BCH Register app to accept BCH.

  1. Philadelphia: Started meetups on Villanova campus in 2017.  Working with a co-organizer to launch in-person meetups in the Philadelphia area. Difficult to find a location due to Covid. Philly area has a restriction of max party size of four being used at most restaurants and bars.

  1. Tokyo: The lockdown situation is making meetups more difficult than usual, but the meetups are still being held weekly. Restrictions may be lifted on April 21st.

  1. Venezuela: New restrictions were implemented. Gas restrictions were also implemented.

  1. Bangalore, India: Organizer was unable to attend but recently onboarded RNS Bikes and a Vegan Hostel using Instacrypto for Merchants.

  1. Update on Merchant Adoption Campaign - Akane on general/Alejandro on LATAM

    1. BCH Argentina is collaborating with Satoshi’s Angels to onboard businesses and also adding the businesses to map.bitcoin.com.  Also, the team is doing quality control for existing businesses accepting BCH and updating the map.

    2. Roberto have done a remarkable job onboarding merchants in Venezuela. During March he onboarded 24 new businesses in Barquisimeto area which is a great milestone for Venezuela. Luis has been doing a tremendous job moderating the BCH community and also promoting on social media. Luis is interested in onboarding BCH merchants.

    3. New member in Chile.

  1. Meetup Merchandise Update - Akane
    Amazon shop (SA with Roger Ver’s support) is coming along. Hopefully we can get it going soon
    Starting with “BCH accepted here stickers”.

Poker chips- Poker chip sets? Ian will give us the contact for the manufacture he uses

  1. Virtual meetups (2 regions in English and 1 in Spanish) - Akane 

    1. Meetups continue to be impacted by the virus restrictions.  Akane suggested virtual meetups so the organizers and members can join.  Alex volunteered to moderate the first virtual meetup for the North American region. Cheap Lightning, Osaka meetup co-organizer might be able to help with the Asia region one.
