There was a time when...
Yesterday evening, I had a short walk from my home to the bus stop. It was nice to walk along the mud roads surrounded by houses, green grasses and playgrounds. It was 5.00 p.m. A time where you can usually find children running and playing in the ground. There favorite game being cricket or football.
Only later did I feel that it was during my childhood I expected to see all these games and not with the present generation. Because as and when I kept walking I could hear the laughter of a lonely child sitting in his garden and playing with his mobile. In another home, I could hear a mother yelling at her son to keep aside the mobile and have his tea which is getting cold.
How strange? If this is going to continue then what will the future have in store for us.
There was a time....
When I, as a girl and as a woman, was able to walk freely alone to my friends places, at the convenience of my time.
When we had lot of friends to confide our happiness, joy and sorrows. The bonding was strong among friends as we used to meet them constantly.
When the playgrounds were full, the enthusiasm to find the next possible place was on hunt by the youngsters to continue their game.
When we used to drench completely in the rain enjoying each and every beautiful moments of droplets falling in our body.
When the boys run with a two metre cloth in hand to catch fresh water fish from ponds. This usually happens after heavy rains.
When we friends used to catch each
others hand while crossing the roads or railway tracks.
When we experienced the taste of home cooked food prepared by mother rather than purchasing from out.
When combined studies or going to one particular tuition in groups was a trend.
When we used to cut and eat raw mangoes with chilli powder, salt, curry leaves and a little bit of coconut oil.
When romance between a girl and boy was respected.
But now all these are written in air. Few children are secluded at home enjoying the comforts provided by technology rather than spending time with friends.
Now the bonding is between man and technology and no more between man and man. All these photos captured in my mobile during my evening walk.
Sadly this is true. Although technology was initially invented to bridge the distance and the gaps and make us more connected, now it has actually built more gaps.
