Mindfulness is a healthy coping mechanism technique that started in Easter Buddhism that is becoming more advocated for now in Western Psychology.
Mindfulness can basically be described as the present conscious awareness of your body including feelings, sensations, and thoughts. When you are practicing mindfulness you are less likely to put your attention towards thoughts of worry, grief, or other negative emotions that are unhealthy and disturb your thought process in the brain.
Someone described mindfulness to me once in a way that was very easy to understand and said, "when you are washing dishes focus on only washing dishes because at that moment you are only washing dishes". For some reason this explanation made a lot of sense to me and I was able to use mindfulness more.
Hopefully this article will help you understand mindfulness today if you are not already practicing it.
