Education is one of the basic human needs. And this education is important for human life and livelihood. Because education provides employment opportunities to people. The concept of employment is slowly changing as a result of new discoveries in science and social, economic, cultural development. New doors of work are being opened. With which special education is becoming essential. As a result, vocational education is gaining more importance than general education.

Career-oriented education:

Career-oriented education is a type of education system which, if adopted, enables the students to work very efficiently in any work or profession at home-outside, in the field-farm, in the mill-factory. The concept of career oriented education is mainly related to professional work. This education is a kind of specialized education, which builds the efficiency of the student and makes the student creative and productive.

Nature of action oriented education:

Action oriented education is not mechanical education. Its job is to establish the manpower as a force in the society by educating them in technical education. Work-oriented education is basically a four-type policy. These are-

-Introduce the student to science and awaken his latent qualities.

-Encourage the student with moral, social and human-cultural values.

- To develop him as a democratic, rational and scientific citizen.

-To transform him into a work-oriented and earning manpower by creating efficiency.

Importance and necessity:

As the population grows, so does the pressure on people's limited resources. As a result, the number of unemployment and poverty is increasing day by day. Also the general education introduced by the English is failing to provide moderate employment opportunities to the people. As a result, the educated unemployed and the frustration among them is increasing. On the other hand, career-oriented education brings huge opportunities and unobstructed possibilities. It has many self-employment opportunities, which play an effective role in alleviating poverty. Career-oriented education helps a person to become independent and to become self-reliant. Unemployment plays a huge role in solving the problem. Therefore, the importance of career oriented education is increasing. And the more emphasis is placed on this vocational education, the faster the economic prosperity of the country will be. It is through this education that the revival of the country's economy is possible.

Types of career-oriented education:

Work-oriented education can be diverse.

Firstly, doctors, engineers and agriculturists who work with higher degrees from schools, colleges, universities. They are engaged in independent professions as they wish.

Secondly, vocational education. No school, college or university degree is required here. Primary or secondary education is important here. Such education includes poultry, cottage industries, fish farming, nursery, midwifery, carpentry, sewing, printing, tailoring, labor, electrical work, book binding, welding, television-wireless-motor Repair work etc. are significant.

Conventional education system:

The conventional education system that existed in our country before is still there. Traditional bibliography is ingrained in our brains and we are still living with the teaching of making those British clerks. The present world is discovering modern technology and techniques but we are far behind. Therefore, the introduction of vocational education along with the conventional education system will reduce the unemployment rate and economic development will be possible, as well as the meaning of living will be greatly improved.

Education system of other countries of the world:

Looking at the developed countries of the world, it is seen that their education system is planned and action oriented. Today, the United States, Japan, Britain, France and other countries have improved their quality of life as a result of the introduction of work-oriented education system. Today they have changed their destiny by being immersed in the mantra of action. They have reached the pinnacle of development today by introducing this science-based career-oriented education.

Career-oriented education interest in vocational education:

Our country is backward and backward in many ways. In particular, in terms of education and science and technology. Therefore, due to lack of proper knowledge, vocational education system is not given much importance in our country. This is an obstacle to our progress. The educated, upper class and even middle class of our country do not show much interest in this education. So first we have to get rid of this kind of mentality. Awareness that work-oriented education is more significant and useful than general education should be spread among all. Which is one of the regulators of progress and development in our individual and national life.

Expansion of Vocational Education:

Needless to say, the field of Vocational Education is expanding in Bangladesh. Public-private science and technology, agricultural universities, engineering universities are being established in different parts of the country. There is also a huge change in the medical field. Medical colleges and dental colleges are being established. Polytechnic and Vocational, Graphics Arts, Leather and Textile Technology Colleges, Veterinary Colleges etc. have also been established. Moreover, hotel management, interior decoration, horticulture, embroidery, printing, fish farming, cattle and poultry farming, computer operation, cottage industries, etc. are gradually becoming attractive. This is leading to the expansion of career-oriented education.

Benefits of career-oriented education:

There are many benefits of career-oriented education. These are-

- Unemployment is reduced as a result of career oriented education.

-Self-employment is created.

-Individual freedom remains intact.

-Reduces pressure on general education.

-Be free from frustration, emptiness and failure in life.

-New new job opportunities are created.

Problems of Implementing Vocational Education:

Vocational education plays an important role in personal or national life. But there are also some problems behind its implementation. Such as: -

-Lack of planning, implementation and infrastructural facilities.

-Lack of trained teachers, manpower resources, teaching materials and financial expenditure management system.

-Lack of necessary training of teachers for quality development.

-Lack of government action.

Some recommendations for the implementation of work-oriented education:

The following steps can be taken as a result of the introduction of work-oriented education system. For example, it is necessary to increase the number of work-oriented educational institutions, to develop its infrastructure, to recruit trained teachers and necessary manpower. Teachers need to be given the necessary training, and steps need to be taken to finance education. Above all, government action needs to be strengthened.
