Flu
Flu is a disease and is a problem among all the people around the world, and having flu is one of the worst things that someone can have especially in the winter season. Drinking water

Drinking a lot of water will help in reducing the thickness of your mucus, helping you breathe better.
Lemons and oranges
Eating a lot of oranges and lemons can also help in combating your flu, those two are full of benefits and can be eaten anytime whether you have flu or not. Lemons are good for flushing the toxins out of our bodie while oranges have a lot of beneficial vitamins for our health.
Drinking hot drinks
Having said that, hot drinks can be really beneficial for a person that is having flu and is sick. Having something like a hot chocolate cup or hot tea, tea mixed with lemon and ginger, or other hot drinks, is one way to treat yourself while waiting for your body to heal by itself at home. Herbal teas tend to be one of the best things that you can have while you having flu.
Showering in hot water
Showering with not so hot water just so you don't burn yourself is one way to heal from having flu. the steam that is coming from the hot water can help with your mucus that might be irritating your throat. If you don't feel like showering simply boil hot water and put your head above the water that is boiled and have the steam get inside your nose and mouth by breathing it in. Combining steam breathing with hot tea especially herbal tea mixed with lemon and ginger can definitely help you a lot.
Using something like a humidifier
If you don't feel like breathing in steam from boiled water which is really good for your mucus and flu, then having a humidifier at home can also help a lot. Humidifiers do work as follows: they boil water and make the room more humid which is similar to breathing steam.
Resting
Having a lot of rest while laying in the bed or simply sleeping can help to reduce the effect of the flu on our bodies, by taking a lot of rest you can help your body recover from having flu and you can get and feel better sooner. Taking some days off from universities or school or even work will definitely help.
Salt
Gargling with salt mixed with not so hot water can and will get rid of bacteria and help in combating your flu. If you are allergic to salt it's better to avoid it, to avoid coughing more.
Medications
Medications are really important for combating flu. Some medications are only for combating minimum flu with lower doses while others might be prescribed by your doctor if you have an infection. Taking medicine is very important and will surely help you recover. Medicines such as Panadol Cold + Flu , Tylenol Cold + Flu , and Tamiflu are great in getting rid of the common flu and help you recover. Other medicines such as Guaifenesin and Mucosolvant are great for cough and surely help in reducing mucus that is irritating the throat and blocking the airway.
