Changes and differences
There is this saying "If you keep doing something the same way everytime, you can't get a different result except you change them"
What does this mean? When you don't change your way or method of doing things, don't expect to get a different result as the one you have been getting before. Doing things in the same way and in the same method as before does not change the outcome. If you expect a different result from what you have been seeing before, then you need to change your way of doing things.
If a child is wayward. The result of the child's waywardness may be; stealing, lying, fighting, drug abuse and other bad vices. When the child changes lifestyle and turn a new leaf, the child's life will bring good results.
Changes can occur in a different ways or manner, to undergo changes in the way we think and reason, some portray ideas and thoughts in the same way, some address issues I'm the same way, trying to address issues from a different angle can be better.
Changes in the way we dress, we all have our own choice of dressing, but changing that old and usual way might bring some transformation you never imagined.
We all have constant way of cooking, some have their fixed recipes and methods, applying some changes in them might give a better result.
There are benefits attached to changes; it's always easier and simple than the former ones, it's faster and they are enjoyable.
Africa's method of farming, by our forefathers was passed down to our generation, that is the use of hoes and cutlasses. If traditional farmers embrace modern methods of farming, using farming fertilizers and tractors, it will bring bumper harvest and food production will increase and food shortage curbed.
Back in those days, in the field of education, tertiary institutions to be precise, I learnt examinations are done once in a year, not as we have it now with two semesters in a session two examinations. That time, once a student fails that single exam, such student is advised to withdraw. These new ways have given many students more opportunities to pass exams with the use of continuous assessment, assignment, and Exams, students have chances to score more marks. Courses failed by students can be carried over to another semester or year and repeated. Changing to the course system of examination has given student better result.
In my tribe, the traditional way of dressing includes "buba" "sọrọ" "agbada" and some others. All these dresses are heavy, and voluminous. It encourages sluggishness especially in the work place, but the new and modern way of dressing brings smartness and it's simple.
In the aspect of government, traditional rulers were in charge of the communities and societies before whatever they said was the final, but now that democratic system of government has been adopted, we have the right to vote whosoever we want as our leader into power, there are rights and freedom as well. Democracy promotes expression of personal opinion and views. Bad rulers are voted out of power. Traditional rulers inherit the throne and die on the throne of even they are bad and incompetent.
In conclusion
Changes should be embraced for a different and better result. We shouldn't abandon our fathers methods totallyband neglect them, but we can adjust them into a better one for the outcome to be bigger and better. In our daily lifes, we should try and apply changes to our way of doing things and it will always being a better outcome for us, instead of sticking to the monotonous way of doing things that is not giving us the desired results. Change is the only constant thing in the universal, let us embrace change where necessary for better result in our endeavours.
Humans resist changes but in this life, nothing can be certain except for death and taxes. We have to improve on previous things and that's what change is about... improvement on the previous thing so that transition to it can be easy since humans naturally resist change. We always want things to be the way they were.
