A Barrier
Tade and Patrick were both mates since high/secondary school. Their kind of love seems unbreakable because they promised to marry each other after they have completed their education. With no doubt, these loverbirds have grown fond of each other that even their classmates are jealous of their relationship. They sit together and read together. They are both from a different tribe but there seems to be no barrier between them.
When it's finally time for them to get married, Tade took Patrick to her home, she wants to show them the guy she loves and wants to marry. After many enquires from Patrick, they discovered he is another tribe they wouldn't support their marriage because of their different culture and tradition, geographical distance between the two tribes and language barrier. Despite much pleadings from Tade to her parents, they refused their union. They will allow them to get married under some stated conditions. Part of the conditions includes Patrick's relocation to their home, they wants him to leave his family and live with them. Of course, it's impossible, Patrick belongs to a different family and another tribe. That puts an end to their love life. They finally moved on with their lives. Tade got married to the guy they want her to marry and patrick married another lady.
After some years, Tade's husband suddenly died, she had already given birth to only a girl after multiple miscarriages. She was accused of being behind her husband's death. Her husband's family seized her husband's properties and chased her out with her daughter. At that point, Tade had nobody to help her, she wished she had never married the man she married, she wished she had married the man he loves. She had nowhere to go because she was jobless with no certificate. She didn't further her education to a degree level.
When Patrick heard of her situation he felt pity for her. He began to assist them financially and sponsored her daughter's education. He was graduate and had a good job. He helped the daughter to have a complete and sound education. When it's finally time for the girl to get married, she asked Patrick to come to her wedding ceremony because she took him as his father and benefactor.
Patrick kept ruminating over the issue, he kept thinking whether it will be right to attend the wedding, will misunderstanding not arise as a result of the past relationship he had had with the girl's mother.
What would Patrick tell his wife as excuse to enable him attend the wedding? Won't the wife feel Patrick has a daughter outside their marriage? What should Patrick tell the young lady who wants to introduce him to people as her benefactor and surrogate father?

Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️
All these factors that people consider as barrier in marriage shouldn't matter...
Geographical location; if it's Nigeria, Nigeria is small enough to bond the two families.
Anyways, the man should have let his wife know that he's been sponsoring someone. On a normal condition, once the wife finds out, she's not going to take it likely
