My little escape

When I was primary school, class four, I think. I was almost kidnapped. One of our teachers died, and she was to be buried during the week.

So, some teachers were selected to represent the school. Leaving few teachers in school. My mum was one of those that went to represent the school.

Around 12pm, one of my classmate came to call me in class. He told my teacher that my mum calls for me. Since it was my mum, my class teacher released me, thinking she was back to her office.

I followed this boy, only for him to tell me my mum was not yet around. I was angry. He opened up and said a guy actually wanted to see me.

The guy that wanted to see me, claimed to be my mum's course mate back in school. I was just a naive child then. I followed him to a tree outside my school.

My classmate then showed me the guy that wanted to see me. The guy waved at me. I was scared, cause the rate at which school kids were kidnapped then, was high. My classmate told me the guy wanted to see me, said I should wait under the tree for him. Said he was going to call his other friends from the hotel nearby.

Out of fear, I ran back to my class and told my teacher what happened.

I was scared cause I wasn't expecting anyone to know my full name, apart from my parents and teachers.

As I was one of my School head's favourite, the matter got to him. My classmate that came to invite was punished and his name was written in the black book of school criminals.

He was blamed. He confessed that he didn't know the guy that wanted to see me. I guess, the guy gave him some money, as bribe.

Normally, every one knew I would never follow them to an unknown place, hence, he decided to use my mum's name as cover up.

Meanwhile, my mum was still at the funeral.

She was not yet back in school.

My mum said if at all the guy is his mate, since he knows that she works in that school now, he should come and see her. He should have come to see her, instead of inviting me to meet him somewhere outside of school. Not even in school.

For a moment, I pitied that my classmate after he was punished. He was crying a lot. I felt like apologising.

On another thought, I guessed he deserved it. Cause, he was about to deliver me into the hands of kidnappers, unknowingly.

From this short scenario, as a child, I learned something.

To be watchful and smart. Smart and wise.

Assuming I was a dumb kid, I would have stayed right under the tree for this stranger. And probably, would have been kidnapped, just like that or Molested.

That's a scary experience yet something we can get lesson from. I also pitied your classmate but he needs to be disciplined, maybe not physically tho but rather talking to him about things he did that he shouldn't.

So thoughtful of you to run back to your teacher.. I think that your classmate was innocent..most times, this kidnappers use people that are innocent and those the victim will trust easily just to get to them...
