When words are not needed

Words are salt to the wounds, when the cut runs deep,

Not a necessity for a broken spirit,Words are redundant when the heart is grieving,

Often it add insult than offer some healing.

Sometimes what we need is a tap at the back,

A silent company or a gentle hug,

Words of compassion may add glimmer of hope,

But most often than not, lenghty words never work.

Spoken useless words;words we cannot take back,

The better left unsaid, that utter in a snap,

It will cut like a blade in a single stab,

Will add more injury than to fill the gap.

Learn to be silent when words are not needed,

practice tact of the tongue, but open up the ears,

A subtle touch of hands, and an eye that intent,

A shoulder to lean on, when words are not needed.

Rokay.

Silence is the best weapon to kill someone. If you can't speak appropriate word then it's better to be silent.

Yeah that's true, and sometimes it's better to listen than speak.

Just found this poem here; I did not see it before. It's suggestive. "It will cut like a blade in a single stab." That line could almost be from old Norse poetry. I submit this to my community "The Power of Words (4be2)", even if this is more about the power of silence.

Tongue cuts deeper than a knife. That's why we need to be careful and sensitive at times. Choose our words wisely because we'll never know its impact to a person.
