Updating and Activating my Parent's PVAO(Philippine Veterans Affairs Office) pension
I accompanied my parents to update their pension at PVAO(Philippine Veterans Affairs Office) earlier. They are the dependants or benificiaries of my late brother who served the military. Though the pension they get is not that much, but it is a huge help for them. Their pension was cut off last January but we were not able to update immediately for some reasons. We were supposed to update last February, but it happened that PVAO does not have an office here in our province due to special non-working holiday. Anyway, their office here in the province is open only every last working Friday of the month and unexpectedly the president declared a special non-working holiday on that day to commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution.
It is necessary to update every year to make sure that these pensioners are still alive. And because there was no office last month, there were many queues.
Their office is small, without air-conditioning or even an electric fan, which is why the senior citizens in line are already sweating. One of the seniors joked and said, "fall in line according to your smell, lol.😅
Before we got in line, I photocopied their IDs first to make the process faster. That is one of the requirements to be able to update and activate their pension.
Fortunately, there are photocopying station in the vicinity of City Hall, which is also close to the PVAO office.
This is what the City Hall in our city looks like. I just thought of taking a picture earlier when I was going to photocopy the IDs.
After we updated and activated the PVAO pension, we went straight to the veterans bank. It is also necessary to re-activate directly to the veterans bank in order to continue to received their pension. And because their pension was cut off starting January and was put on hold, so their pension was accumulated. They have taken the accumulated pension in full to supplement their daily expenses.
They will reupdate/reactivate their pension next year because if they don't, they might be terminated and will never get their monthly pension.
Post Note
Hello everyone,
Holy week is coming, what are your plans? I'm sure some of you are planning to go to the beach because summer is really here. Just enjoy wherever you plan to go.
Anyway, happy last Friday of the month to all.

Updating and submitting some papers could be time consuming but it is part of the requirements. I think that is better to make sure those pensioners are still alive. I heard in a news before that there are lot of ghost pensioners.
