Somebody is preparing something nasty on read.cash

Today, we have discovered this in our list of users:

838 users registered like that.

Usually it wouldn't be ok to publish someone's email, but in this case these are so obviously fake.

It seems read.cash got so interesting that people are taking time to craft some custom attacks.

We don't really understand what could it achieve, since you can only earn money if you do something useful and people actually send you upvotes.

We'll see where this is going.

Any guesses?

Isn’t it strange many users including myself got a lot of views but not a single comment?

Could just be in anticipation of spam posting (like they do with WordPress comments) or hoping for accidental upvotes.

Probably

"Any guesses?" Prepare a future upvote "attack" with fake users. They did that in r/btc in critical moments like the hardfork "mutable" post (they reserve that option only to rare occasion so it won't become too apparent a problem to the Reddit staff).

I think you can try inserting a captcha to solve the problem ... I don't understand the meaning of a similar attack

Captchas aren't that effective. You can use one of the many anti captcha services and get them solved for $1/1000 captchas. Which is what spambots usually do. So, the one thing captcha mostly does is annoying regular users :)

I'd guess flood the comments of all articles with tip/upvote begging

Interesting guess :) We'll see.

Thank you for being a smart team to have discovered this early. Kindly go deeper to eliminate them to make read.cash safer. I don't know what they stand to gain from this, but perhaps it might have been existing since the days of login and earn BCH.

Let's see how they manage it :) I'm up for a challenge. It would be fun. Distracting from the things we should be doing, but fun.

I'm looking at alternatives to SteemIt because there's currently a storm brewing over there based on some guy called Justin Sun who made Thor or something. Apparently he instigated a hostile takeover by creating a tonne of user accounts and had them voting as Witnesses to try and take over the system after he bought it out. I can't really think why he'd need to do that if he owns the site and code but this instantly made me think of that.
