Robert G heft was born in January 1941 in Michigan. He made two types of flags for united state. One of them had 50 stars which is now united states official flag. The other flag had 51 stars which was made if any other state join united state.
He made this flag when he was 17 years old in his school project and he got B grade for his flag but he wasn't satisfied with it. He made an agreement with his teacher that if his flag get chosen for official US flag his grade will be changed to A.
His design was chosen out of more than 1,500 designs which was given to united state's president.
After graduating from college. He was become a high school teacher and after some time college's professor. He died in the age of 68 by heart attack in 2009 after having diabetes for many years.
