Chosen kingdom in an uproar again! The warriors of Hades kingdom just left after looting them of valuables and killing their youths. A terrible experience it was!

Adam, the king of Chosen kingdom was pacing perplexedly.

“How long are we going to keep suffering? They come at will, steal, kill and destroy my people without pity.”

“Please, calm down.” Eve, the queen said sadly.

“Don’t say that! Where’s Abel, my only son and heir to my throne? He was killed!” he cried.

“But your highness, King Zedek of Salem kingdom promised to help us in this distressing season.”

“Yes. He promised to send his Warlord and second-in-command to his throne. A warrior who has never lost a battle.” Adam explained.

“Good news! Our oppressors will be subdued by his great powers and prowess in battle. When are we expecting him?

“Soon. Zedek has sent several emissaries to prepare us of his coming.”

“He's indeed a great man!”

“Yes. A civil war once broke out in Salem kingdom. Some chiefs and domestic staffs conspired against the throne. It was fierce! This man singlehandedly led the battle against those traitors. He fought and won. Afterwards, the traitors were banished from the kingdom to the wilderness forever.” Adam expantiated.

“I’m happy!.” Eve smiled.

A knock interrupted their discussion.

“Come in”. the king ordered.

Your highness, someone from Salem is here to see you.” Asah said prostrating himself.

“Let him in.” Adam said.

Asah stood to bring the visitor.

“Your highness! I’m John from Salem kingdom. Our king asked me to enquire if you’re prepared to host his warlord? He desired him well received and taken care of.” John explained.

“We’re prepared to receive him, we'll care for him till war ends” Adam replied.

“I’ll be on my way.” John replied and left.

“Thank goodness!” Eve danced happily.

“I'm relieved, we can now have our lives and peace. Thanks to Zedek.” Adam said thankfully.

The evening of that day, a stranger walked into the kingdom, dressed in a simple attire, looking ordinary. He entered the palace bearing a smile revealing his joy.

“Your highness, I’m Manuel, the warlord of Salem kingdom. I’m happy to be of help to save you from your enemies.” Manuel said happily.

Looking at him in disbelieve.

“Really? Where are your men? Your weapons?” Adam asked.

“Your highness, no need for that! I’m all you need to win this battle.” he explained.

“I need to talk to my chiefs.” The king fumed.

At the meeting of the elders, they deliberated, argued and fought. And they concluded he was a spy from Hades to deceive them. They requested of him a sign to ascertain his claims but he couldn’t. Eventually, he was banished from the kingdom.

The ignorant people exiled Manuel from their kingdom, they threw out their hope of survival.

Manuel was unhappy. He had nowhere to go. He could have backed out but being a man of his words, he didn’t. He wouldn’t leave until the battle ends, giving them freedom and peace from their enemies. With that, he decided to stay at the entrance of the kingdom.

He camped there with no shelter from rain and sun and no protection from danger and wild beasts. But he’s determined to save them.

As usual, Lucifer, the king of Hades decided to invade and loot the Chosen kingdom. He gathered his army, ready to attack but the story was different. A mighty man was guarding the city gates.

In annoyance, they attacked, the war was fierce, swords clanged, heads flew and blood gushed. Manuel singlehandedly fought the battle; it was tough but he was brave and strong.

Soon, the people of Chosen kingdom came to witness the fight. They’re amazed at how the spy fought bravely for their cause. They realised the man they threw out was really from Salem and they wept at their stupidity.

Manuel strategically attacked Lucifer and conquered him.

There was a shout of victory from the people. Unfortunately, Manuel was wounded, bruised and he had lost much blood.

Before his last breath, he professed his love for his Chosen people.

"I love you, my people. I came in peace but you rejected me because you're short-sighted. I chose to save you and I didn't back out until I did. Embrace my love and be a victor always."

With these words, he died.

The people cried and rushed to him. They carried him and made their way to the palace singing a dirge.

"Emmanuel, a man of peace,

Came as our saviour - humble and loving

In our ignorance, devil, we named him

To the manger of thorns and danger, we banned him

But in his love, he fought our cause

And for our freedom, he gave himself..."
