San Isidro mayor’s sister drowns, dies

A 23-year-old lady, the youngest sister of San Isidro town mayor Diosdado Gementiza is declared dead due to a drowning incident.
The victim went swimming with her cousins at the Kilab-kilab Falls located in the said town, according to reports.
The police report dated August 6, 2020, identified the victim as Maria Jessel Gementiza of barangay Poblacion, San Isidro.
Another police report dated August 7, 2020 provided by the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) to The Bohol Tribune on August 8, 2020 bared that the remains of the victim were found today, on Friday, August 7, 2020 at around 11 am at the Ginsangaan River, also of San Isidro town.
It took a joint rescue team comprising of personnel from TaRSIER 117, the Philippine Coast Guard, the local government unit of San Isidro, civilian volunteers and residents of barangays Cansague Norte, Cansague Sur, and Caimbang 43 hours to locate and retrieve the remains of the victim.
The post-mortem examination was conducted by San Isidro municipal health officer Dinalyn Laquinta-Tinaja, the report added.
According to an earlier police report, the drowning incident happened on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 after which the lady victim was reported missing on the same day, too.
The initial investigation report said that on Wednesday, San Isidro police received information from a certain Akirah Mae Cutora regarding the incident. Cutora was one of the companions of the victim during the swimming activity. Other companions include: Michael John Dee Cutora, Rosemarie Gementiza, and Alfredo Hibaya. The group went to Kilab-kilab Falls for some sightseeing and subsequently decided to swim in the waters near the falls.
After a while, heavy rains poured in the vicinity of the falls causing a flash flood and the level of waters near the falls rose, the report narrates.
Four of the five members of the group that went swimming at the waters near the falls were able to escape the rising water, the report bares.
Unfortunately, the victim, due to the strong current, was dragged downstream and went missing for some time before her remains were retrieved after almost two (2) days, the same report says.
As of this writing, the remains are now at a funeral parlor, and there is no information, as of posting time when the interment will be.
