Did United deserve the three points?
What an ending. Man U didn’t deserve it but 3 points are 3points, a win is a win! Just move on! They need a central defender and a real center forward. I know people will start blaming ole but he made the subtitle well, he saw error at the right-back that was why he had to add Bailly so Wan Bissaka can cover well but unfortunately, they still have a chance to score from there. They are very lucky to win. Let's be real they were awful but got the win. Brighton has been robbed.
They have huge improvements needed. They didn't win cause they scored 3. They won because the bar and 2 posts were on their side. Complete luck today. They were far from below average, very woeful performance, they will never win anything with Maguire in defense, himself and Lindelof is a calamity, very stationary, and rigid, no fluidity, that's not a defense, maybe 2 poles, until they get their defense right, they're just going to continue being the laughing stock of the premier league, title pretenders rather than contenders.
Defensive mistake cost them 2 goals
Both of Brighton's goals were by 2 defensive errors which he was covering places were AWB should be. AWB today's match was awful, was never in the correct place defensively and many occasions were made due to that. Pogba had another bad match, again, defensively bad and offensively too slow, simply start Donny over him. And martial or greenwood today were not inspired. The performance was not the best but I feel that they'll get better with more games.
Extremely lucky to win and expecting to see salty fans but what saddens me is that the "best fans" in the world are berating the team and the players. Yes, the performance was not good but the important thing is the win and as fans, they should support and criticize too. The team performance today was not impressive, they are better than that. Manchester United Legacy is getting destroyed. As supporters they want the champions spirit back at old Trafford, they are no longer seen as contenders for the champions league or premier league. This hurts for many fans.
They need to adopt other playing tactics. Attacking is the best way to defend. When you substitute a striker for a defender, you're trying to pull your opponent towards your end and anything can happen and any mistakes made there can cost you a goal. I think they should start playing attacking football. They can be offensively a threat, My take.
Bruno was the main man for United
Bruno was the difference, especially towards the end. Yesss he may have been completely bad but you can argue probably without him they wouldn't have won the game. That through ball for Rashford to make it 2-1 and that penalty amid the pressure of the game. He created the first goal assisted the second and scored the third can’t have been that bad. The rest of his performance wasn’t bad just wasn’t up to his standards but at the end of the day a goal and assist and created the other goal so.
Ole performance review
He showed what he is capable of with the team they had last season. They lack the depth that's one of their main killers and they do need to strengthen their backline notably a (CB) and the players were not sharp but they kept the faith and were fighting till the end that's the united mentality. As Ole said there's plenty of work to do hopefully they get a couple if not one more signing this window.
I don't understand why they got VDB and he doesn't play? From what I have seen he is a good player. What was the point to change Greenwood for Baily? Just attack, score and win, it's that simple. They are not a small club to just defend. Since when does United defend a 1 goal lead against a team like Brighton? During the Ferguson era, they would attack to make it a 2 plus goal difference. I like Ole, but those tactics need to go, if they had to defend a goal and not go on and press against any of the other top 6 they would lose. They can't take that type of mentality to the UCL either, rivals would say they are just making the numbers in the UCL.
Wan Bissaka performance review
Wan Bissaka was shocking today. Seems to have completely lost his confidence since the return after lockdown. Hope he can turn it around. Wan Bissaka put in probably the worst single performance I’ve ever seen from a professional football player. Constantly out of position and didn’t have a clue where people were when balls were coming in. his positional play is very poor and could do with some work. He was good w tackles but was terribly out of position. The number of times they had a Brighton player isolated on their left side of the pitch was bad.
I think Maguire should be benched. I remember when Lindelof turned into a beast before we signed Maguire. The goalpost was better than the United defenders, saving them 3 points. At least now the board may realize that they need better defense. Disappointed by the way they played.
