What is better than honesty? Being honest is one of the best things in the world and you tend to get noticed for it, and people give you respect and understand that you are a person of truth. Saying the truth most of the time is preferred and lying is a bad choice that people tend to make.

Being honest

When asked about something from a close or far friend, relative or family member we always have to be honest, because trust issues can occur and relationships between family members or brothers and sisters or even mother or father can worsen with time by giving out lies, and people will stop believing you if you keep lying, and when you are telling the truth they will also think you are lying about it. People will stop helping you if you really need help because they either think you are not saying the truth or trying to scam them, or simply because they don't like you since you always tend to hide the truth, or most of the time. Honesty is gold and we all should keep up with it no matter what, but keep it under control, and truth is the way of working things out in our daily life.

You can be honest with yourself as well, by not cheating on your tests, in college or school, or by cheating on your significant other or taking a cheat week from dieting, being honest to yourself is only going to make you a happier person and will get you working harder for the things you want, which is accompanied with a feeling of success.

Lying is bad

When we lie we only think about a way to escape from the truth, but did we actually try to face the problem and not run away from it at least once? What is going to happen if we stop lying? Well if the situation is not complicated we can solve it and if it is our fault in the first place then we should take responsibility and start acting right upon our fault. Lying is only going to make the situation worse, and with time the lie will come to an end, and your reputation as a person will get lower, and you wont be trusted anymore. Face your problems and try to solve them and fix them, they ain't that bad, and if they are, then take someone's opinion about it.

When to lie?

Lying to save someone's life, or to save him or her from harm, is the best thing you can do, and in this case lying because compulsory and obligated for you to do so, because you will be risking the other person's life is you say the truth, for example if someone is going to commit a crime or following someone and that person is looking somehow not that friendly, then lying and saying the victim ran away from another direction is a good way to keep them safe. Lying to your significant other in a way to make them happy is not recommended but in rare case scenarios, if your wife wants something and you can not afford it yet, maybe say yes and work hard for it to actually achieve it, even if it seems near impossible for you, but you need a logical chance for you to achieve it.
