The strength of your faith

I am so happy today to discuss this topic with you that captioned The strength of your faith, I believe you went to church today to hear the word of God and received his blessings for those of us that are Christians for the new week that we have entered. Well, I bless you and pray that your new week shall be filled with success, open doors and all that comes with goodness.

I will start with these questions, how much is the strength of your faith?

How do you qualify the level of your faith when it comes to having trust and faith in God?

Often time people tend to believe that the level of faith to receive a blessing from God is measured by the much effort of diligence, committment to the things of God, how serious you ever be with the things that concerns God, some people may even believe it's by the amount of self rightousness you try to make your self get to with the things of God, while some people may think it's by the level of their worship, prayers and even their relationship with God. All of these factors maybe misunderstood and misinterpreted by these set of people who actually think that the level of one's faith can be measured by these factors highlighted above.

Even John the Baptist was among these set of people that believed that, for one to say that his faith is ever strong in God, that person must live it out through his way of life, the level of his commitment to things that concerns God must be of high standard, the person's character must be seen with uprightness and never to be seen with evil persons and things around. That was why the disciples of John the Baptist were seen fasting and praying almost everyday of their lives, they were seen as people that were upright and never to be seen eating and dinning with sinners.

But when Christ came to the world, his ways and how he was going about preaching the word of God were totally different from the ideology and teachings of John the Baptist and his disciples. John the Baptist believed that for you to receive any thing from God, your faith must be as big as the oceans and seas before you can be able to have an answered prayer, but as Christ was going about doing his work, he did the opposite of what John the baptist was expecting him as the expected Messiah. Jesus Christ went ahead doing good, preaching and dinning with the sinners, he became friends with both the Jews and the gentiles, Christ never dwelled much about the method of praying and fasting, he never followed the pattern and method of John the Baptist, Christ became friends with the worst sinners like the Mary Magdalene, Zacchaeus the tax collector, etc. When John the baptist saw what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask Christ if he was the Messiah the scriptures foretold or should they expect another, his reasons were because Christ was actually not acting the way he expected, he expected Christ to be extremist and more serious with the laws and commandments of God, and he expected Christ to use strong hands more than him to teach the gentiles and the Jews the laws and command which himself John the Baptist was not able to do.

But Christ explained what one's level of faith should be like in the life of the woman with an issue of blood, also in the life of the centurion man(army commander) through the level of faith they showed to Christ. The woman with the issue of blood even in the midst of crowd that came to see Christ, she managed to touch the hem of Christ's garment and her little faith healed her of her sickness. The same level of faith happened in the life of the centurion, when he called Christ as he entered Capernaum that his servant was sick, Christ wanted to go with him to his house, he refused and told Christ to say only a word, his servant at home will be healed and when Christ did as he said, his servant was healed.

These two examples I mentioned right now are the strength of faith Christ is talking about, and it's the same level of faith I want to you to have in you. You don't need a house filled with faith for you to receive answers from God, you don't need to be so holy and fast your life all day all because you want your faith to be strong enough so that God can be close to you and hear your voice when ever you beckon on him.

All you need is that same amount of faith been displayed by these two persons that had encounter with Christ, all you need is to stay with Christ and learn his ways and don't be so fanatic about it. Christ ways are simple and easy to follow if only you can trust in him totally and your faith being little as mustard seed, surely you will move mountains.
