Fear can be beneficial and also non-beneficial to us humans. It is hardwired into our neural system and provides us with the survival instincts we require to keep ourselves safe from harm.
Fear is bad when it causes us to be more cautious than we need to be to keep safe and inhibits us from doing things we might otherwise enjoy.
A phobia is an irrational fear of a certain object or event. When someone with a phobia is exposed to this thing or scenario - or even just thinks about it - they can experience tremendous anxiety.
Fear is a natural human feeling that everyone goes through at some point in their lives. What counts most is how we deal with our worries and if we allow them to rule our lives.
We may not refer to our different sensations as "fear." We can name it stress, worry, or panic, yet we are generally referring to the same emotion when we use these terms.
When we feel fear, we can experience three types of symptoms: Unhelpful thoughts, such as thinking everyone in the room with us is having critical thoughts about us, or that something bad will happen. Physical symptoms, such as a rapid heartbeat, faster breathing, sweating and higher blood pressure (our bodies’s ‘fight or flight’ response). Changes in our behaviours, ranging from simple things such as avoiding a fun activity, to more serious issues like being afraid to leave our homes. The good news is there are lots of ways to help manage our fears. And lots of places to find help. One of which is talking to our doctors if we have severe or frequent anxiety attacks, or if they interfere with our daily lives.
What is the distinction between good and pathological fears?

Fear is a natural emotion that serves to keep us safe. This instance given is one of the good fears that is so helpful to man.
PATHOLOGICAL FEAR
Other anxieties, on the other hand, are unhealthy and needless. Fear can cause us to be more cautious than we need to be. Meeting new people may be scary, but it poses no genuine danger to our safety. This dread is harmful since it prevents us from doing things we would otherwise like.
