As they say "What has a beginning surely would have an end". An exercise we started on the 17th of May, 2021 and was supposed to be a 6 weeks exercise is coming to an end this week. I think we are lucky where we are observing our exercise because normally, we supposed to end on the 25th but the school is vacating this week Friday and get ready to go back to school again. It has been a wonderful moment in this city called Ile Ife. I was treated nicely and the family of my friend are so welcoming and I never regretted my stay in the house.
Many things we faced at the school, everything became boring to me, and it came to an extent which I was like "Everything should be fast so I can go back". The other students were so frustrating which I would say and most times, I just feel like "we all came for different purpose in this school and for the fact that we came from the same school should have made us one". But these students observing theirs too were something else to us. We had issues amongst ourselves which it shouldn't be at all. They never wanted Unity.
THE ATTENDANCE BOOK BECAME A PROBLEM
It all started with the attendance book where we signed in and out, writing the actual time we came into the school every morning but these students were taking it somewhere else which we had to refuse. The first week of our resumption, they tore the attendance book which is very wrong to do in any school. They actually were forging the time of their arrival and even write for those not in school yet which is wrong to us. The Counselors were given their own seperate office which was very perfect for us. The other students wanted us to be like them writing a wrong time on the attendance book but we turned them down letting them know, we would only write the actual time we arrived in the morning. They insisted we keep to their styles so it can favor them so that when the supervisor comes around, they will think they are always punctual.
We never buy the idea at all and we sticked to our own right way. They made us enemies but we do not care. We summoned meeting among ourselves to sort the issue out but it was like adding more fuel to the fire and they never wanted it to end and they concluded we have our own attendance book which we refused and told them it is never done anywhere. At the end, we found out that they were at fault because the school principal blamed them for tearing the attendance book which is against every school rules. It went down and continued our daily activities but it seems they just do not want to associate with us but we also stayed on our lane. With all of these, it made this year's exercise boring for me. I really enjoyed the last exercise I did and there was unity among ourselves but this one, is out of it.
WE PLANNED BUYING GIFT FOR THE SCHOOL
So, since we are finishing the exercise this week, we planned on buying gift for the school but some of the students were against it, saying they are expecting the school to gift us instead. WTF! Without the student Counselors, they planned organizing a get together within themselves and not inviting the teachers. We totally disagreed and made them know it won't speak well if they do not contribute to buy some gifts for the school, whereas they will cook without inviting the teachers too. That is unfair. We made them know, we won't be available on that day because we are going for our Career Day which is very important and will be used in grading our scores too. After much deliberation, we decided to get the school a waste bin.
We believe it will be a good thing to present them with a waste bin because the school do not have any. The students are always litering the ground with dirt which isn't ideal enough for them. Having a waste bin would help them take care of the surrounding and also learn how to be neat.
I am just happy exercise is ending this week and it's really a beautiful moment with the teachers and students of the school.
I am sad to hear students are behaving in this way,its really a childish behavior to tore the attendance book and to arrange a get together without inviting their teachers. Anyway that's good your exercise is going to end and its a great idea to present them a waste bin.
