Darkness: What does it means to you?

When you hear of the word "Darkness", what comes to your mind? Wicked right? I would definitely say this too because since I was born, I have never seen any good thing coming out from the dark. Everything is all about doing evil because they believe things like that should be kept secret and not to be exposed. When you are in the dark, and suddenly the light pops up, would you want to continue what you were doing then? Of course not, because you feel you had be exposed of your deeds. Anything evil is done in the dark.

Let's look at this scenario of a black and white cloth.

When I was still young, I have the habit of putting on black clothes more than twice and who would know it's dirty? 😅 After applying perfume to it, I am good to go and it would never expose how dirty the cloth is. Can you try that with a white clothes? I bet you wouldn't even dare to put on a white clothes twice because you would see at least a tiny bit of stain on it 🙈

This obviously tells you that black isn't exposed whereas white is. So definitely I see black as hidden secret and White as Exposed secret. Black is for darkness and white is for Light.

Genesis 1:1-4

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said, let there be Light and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness."

We were made to know everything, both light and darkness were created by God but He saw one was good than the other and He had to separate the light from the darkness. The light gives hope and direction but darkness doesn't. It keeps secret and when the time comes, the light would shown on the darkness and overpower it.

Darkness means a lot to me and I would be mentioning some areas where it is called Darkness.

1. KEEPING MALICE OR GRUDGES

We would believe that having someone in mind and trying to be an enemy to such person means you are in the dark. When you do not forgive those who offends you and all you could think of is how to pay them back with evil. That's revenge and you know what happens thereafter? Regret Ofcourse. You are still in the dark if you do not embrace and let go of grudges in you.

2. HAVING AN EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIRS OUTSIDE YOUR HOME

Just like two young lovers who aren't wedded or joined together, everything is still secret until they both get married and are open to public and announced as husband and wife. Those things they couldn't do openly then would definitely be something what people will know. Same thing as a married man or woman having an extra marital affairs outside. They wouldn't want people to know their secrets and with this, they keep hiding and doing their love thing until their secrets get leaked out.

3. NOT HAVING THE FEAR OF THE LORD

In the book of Psalm 1:7, it says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge". I will also like to twist it and say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of coming out of darkness. Darkness has nothing to do with the light. God is light and you don't have to go against His will and expect to be with Him. The truth is when you do not have the fear of the Lord in you- that is, walking in God's way, abiding by His rules and commandment and doing what pleases Him, then you are still in darkness until you come into the light of Him.

The truth is we are still in Darkness when we are not of God. We are living in the devil's way and that is what he wants from us but when our eyes is opened to see the light of truth, then darkness will leave.
