There are times in our lives that God will awaken us on how lucky we are that any other people who made a lot of effort to double, triple and if given a chance to make time 5x faster just to cope with the quota and earn their rewards or salary.
What made me write this article is just I want to honour and salute all the delivery drivers out there who made a lot of effort just to achieve their quota or the minimum delivery number of items to send to their customers.
On a very hot-striking heat of the sun, I and my family member was sitting and chilling outside the terrace to ease the thirst and cool down our head from a very striking heat of the sun that a concrete road could boiled an egg enough because of a very heat temperature.
As we were having a very good conversation, a two-young rider, as their age range at their 20's was knocking and calling us and excused theirselves on asking a person's residencial location. They also asked if we knew a person who named "Geraldine" and I wonder what would be her family name.
I asked them "Geraldine who"?, I told them, we knew two Geraldine's name, and funny thing is they have the same family name. So I asked them, "what was it's complete name and it's middle name?
The two men were also confused, So I go nearer and I asked if I could see it's parcel's information. As I looked at it, there is no family name indicated in the parcel.
As I inspect thetir faces, I would say that the other young man who steal a seat to relax himself by the stairs was looking so exhausted and looks like he was so helpless and thirsty. The big round drops of sweat from his forehead falling down from his innocent and exhausted bold face.
I can see his tiredness and exhaustion by his helpless and tired body that enable him to seat lamefully that anytime he would faint because of so much heat coming from the striking sun. So I handed them an ice cold water to ease their thirst, tiredness and to relax theirselves from the heat.
They said, they are much tired because thebsaid customer has been fooling them around. They contacted the customer and told them that she is already outside the street.
They were told to wait outside, they first contacted the said customer for about three times, they waited too long at the streets under the striking heat of the sun. As they tried to contact the customer again where she was, finally, the customer can't be reached at all.
The two young men where so helpless, I feel their sadness and eagerness to earn a small out in every parcel they successfully send in every customers. As I asked how much would they earn from a single parcel, they told us that they only got Php 10.00 in every parcel they successfully sent.
The saddest thing is, they have 45 parcels at hand to be delivered to each customers. Their minimum quota would be 40 parcels should be successfully send to its recepient and if they won't be able to send it to their recepient, they would be out from the service.
As I asked farther, they have also locations that would have a poor signal or no signal at all. The hardest part is, they won't be able to contact their customers to literally locate their places.
Back to Geraldine's parcel it only cost php 84.00 pesos only. So my mother decided to pay for the parcel of this unknown customer because she felt sorry for those two delivery riders.So they could be able to go ahead and send many parcels as they can.
Closing thought
To all the customers out there who purchase and buy goods over online shopping, let's be responsible when buying and please enable to complete your identity and information. Don't let people suffer for your irresponsible actions and be emphatetic to others feeling.
To all shopping store online, I would suggest you have to be strict on selling items to a verified customers only, so it won't be able delivery riders to guess who are their customers are. Be strict on getting information your your customers vice -versa.
A legit customers and a legit online shopping store would be verified strictly. So it would create tensions to rider-customers communication because I heard a lot of bad experiences of the riders on their daily field.
They are just human and try their luck to earn and sustain their cost of living. They have family too whose waiting for their return to home and whose waiting for them to bring something for the family to be fed.
I hope we are all be a good citizen and responsible consumer. Do not fool anyone just to satisfy your foolishness. It is not a good joke to make laugh and fool others.b
It is not easy to conquest the streets under the striking heat of the sun just to make sure your parcel has been delivered to you!
