10 Ways How to Boost Your Confidence
We first need to understand why we experience a lack of confidence in ourselves. It may be the result of childhood experiences that were traumatic, difficult, or disruptive. Parental separation, discrimination, and sexual or physical abuse leave lasting effects on us as we grow older if we don't get the help we need. Many of us have not had the opportunity to build confidence through effective learning experiences. Aside from professional help, there are ways we can build our self-esteem and confidence so that we are better prepared to face new challenges, doubts, or concerns successfully.
10 Ways How to Boost Your Confidence
Pray to learn how to deal with your situation successfully. Instead of praying for problems to be fixed or challenges to disappear, pray to understand yourself and what you must learn to overcome. Pray to remember what you learned and write down your thoughts. Read them often.
Think positive. Remember that you are a child of God. He did not send you into the world to fail. You're not perfect, but you make choices that make you better. Believe in yourself. Know that whatever happens, you can handle it with the Lord's help.
Take care of your body. Be neat and clean. Make it a habit to wash your hair, iron your clothes, brush your teeth, and be sure to smile. Personal hygiene will make you feel better about yourself.
Eat healthy food and exercise. Knowing you're taking care of your health helps you feel like you're taking good care of yourself. And exercise releases endorphins in your body that make you feel better.
Get enough sleep. Prepare for sleep by doing something that calms you—read a book, read your scriptures, or write in your journal. Sleep with good thoughts, knowing that tomorrow is a new morning, a new beginning.
Be kind. Look others in the eye and smile, say kind things, or do kind deeds. "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39).
Be thankful. Stop in the middle of a difficult part of the day and reflect on the blessings you receive. Gratitude has a strong influence on the happiness we feel.
Praise yourself when you do something well and try to do something. Do something you've been putting off, and when you finish it, praise yourself for what you did. You can do something as simple as reading a book you've been wanting to read for a long time or fixing a leaky faucet in the sink.
Arrange things. Whether at home or in the office, organize things. You'll be surprised how good it feels to have everything organized.
Make a list of your strengths and talents. Perhaps you can ask close friends and family members for help. Include not only good qualities—include accomplishments and things you're good at. Now, put the list in a place where you can see it every day. And before you start the day, get down on your knees and give thanks for everything on that list.
