Maybe you think power is the key to success - that you have to have a lot of it. But if it actually takes one thing to create your reality, it's self-discipline. By consistently pushing yourself to do what you don't think you can, you can eventually become someone who has the power to do anything they want in life.

Have you ever thought about what your life would look like if you had the power to impact everything you desired? What if you threw out fear and took control of your life? What would life be like?

In order to create your life's dreams, you need to create specific goals for yourself and set aggressive self-discipline plans. If you don't have long-term goals, you'll find it difficult to actually achieve anything and be happy.

Meaning And Purpose Of Self-Discipline

Self-discipline is the ability to do something over and over again, without getting a reward. Think of a person who is in great shape physically. They may be strong, they may be in good shape and they may have lots of physical prowess, but if they lack the discipline to work out on a regular basis, they'll never improve their physical condition.

On the other hand, someone who practices medicine, law, or any other profession where they have to be "reined in" by a boss will never be known as "the best" in that profession. Your goal should be to take yourself to the next level. Whether that be greater mental or physical accomplishment, or both, it's up to you to decide. The biggest mistake people make, who want to improve their lives is accepting anything less, than total commitment to the process.

The process of creating your future is a journey. You'll make mistakes, you'll fall off the wagon and you'll do things that you'll regret. But with consistent effort, you'll eventually get back up and keep on keeping on. You don't necessarily have to follow all the rules, but a lack of self-discipline can be just as detrimental as having too much. Make sure you're not doing something, that is going to sabotage your own chances of success.

How To Effectively Discipline Yourself

You have two components to your plan. The first is to create a vision board. A vision board is essentially a big piece of paper with pictures of everything you'd like to be, you'd like to do, or have in your life. Get this out of your head; this is not a "positive thinking" exercise. This is about taking control of your life. If you let yourself become a slave to your "day-to-day," then life will most certainly pass you by.

The vision board will not only give you things to shoot for, but it will also give you a sense of purpose and meaning to your life. It will make you feel as if what you're doing in your life is actually important.

Next you'll want to make a list of everything you want to accomplish in the next six months. This is your "time frame" for success. Having too long of a time frame can also be detrimental; don't wait too long to start a business, or any other endeavor for that matter. You don't want to find yourself in the middle of it all, wondering what happened to all the time you had to accomplish your dreams.

With your list in hand, you will need to create a master plan. This is where your vision board will really come in handy. Using your list, it will be much easier to see which of your dreams can be fulfilled by what you have available to you. You should also be able to see which ones you can outsource, or at least do in partnership with someone else.

Finally, you'll need to create an action plan. You'll need to take every step you can to achieve your goals.

Creating What You Want

While some people are incredibly gifted in this area, most of us have to work at it a bit. Just like any skill, the more you put into it, the better you'll become. It may take you months to build up the discipline needed to reach your goal, but the payoff will be all worth it.

You can write your goals down, draw them, or you can even turn them into pictures if you'd like. Whatever you decide to do, just make sure they're something, that you can hold on to. Things may change, but your vision board is something, that should remain the same.

When you visualize what you want, you're more likely to make it happen. This is one of the reasons why people who are "highly motivated" are more successful, than those who aren't. Those who are "highly motivated" don't allow themselves to get distracted by the ordinary measures of success. Most don't even define success as money, position, or even happiness. Instead, they define it by what they want.

If you aren't sure of what you want, or if you are but you are unsure how to go about getting it, then you aren't ready to be successful. You may be young, but you're not stupid. If you're thinking that you're going to come up with a "perfect plan" to get what you want, then you're bound to fail. Only by being "unpredictable" can you actually achieve something.

Developing Accountability

Once you've set your goals and made a plan, you need to find someone who is going to be "accountable" for your success. The most important thing about this is that they share your vision of what you want in life. When someone is not on your side, or if you feel that they aren't, then you're likely to be disappointed. Remember, you're the one making the decisions. As cliché as it sounds, you're the one choosing your path in life.

Having an "accountable" person will help you stay on track as you work towards your goals. If you want, you can even have more than one. Having a partner can also be very beneficial. You'll still need to do the work, but having at least someone to share the burden with can make it easier.

Maintaining Your Motivation

You have to start working on a daily basis towards your goal. You can't let yourself become idle. The only way to accomplish anything is to just keep on "putting one foot in front of the other." If you do that, then you'll get where you're going just fine.

However, you also have to remember that life is life. You're not going to be able to wake up one day and be exactly where and how you want to be. There are going to be ups and downs. There are going to be good days and bad days. Sometimes you're going to get what you want, and other times you're not.

The only way to deal with this is to embrace it. If you can maintain your "motivation" to succeed, then you'll be able to handle the inevitable setbacks, that are going to come your way. It may not be easy, but you can get through it. You have to keep in mind, that there is a "reason" for everything that happens in life. Even the bad things that happen to us, they happen for a reason.

My dad was the one who taught me, rather tortured me into learning some dicsipline in life and I hated him through out my childhood.. but now, the more people I meet in my life, the more thankful I'm for my father for raising me the way he did.. Discipline is so underrated and extremely important in life
