From the invention of the light bulb to the beginning of the space age, there have been huge advancements in technology and scientific research. Here's a look at some of these major inventions and how they changed our world.
10. The Film Cameras
The film cameras came about in the years just before the turn of the century. Before then, photographs were taken the old fashioned way, with a camera obscura. This was a dark box with a small hole in the top that you could put in a pinhole and view a scene inside. Because of the blurriness and shaky nature of these pictures, they weren't very good.
The film cameras eventually replaced the camera obscura completely. They were similar in that they used film, but they were easier and safer to use. You didn't even need daylight to make a picture with a camera. They were also much better quality. Soon, the film cameras were being used for all sorts of purposes. Mainly, taking snapshots of loved ones and important events, but there's no telling what they might end up being used for in the future.
9. The Light Bulb
The light bulb was another invention, that came out around the turn of the century. It was a very simple light source, that consisted of a glass bulb with a wire filament inside. The filament was heated with an electric wire until it glowed and gave off light. Although the bulb was simple, and not very efficient, it revolutionized everything. It allowed electricity to be used in homes, offices, and factories. It created artificial lighting that eliminated the need to spend hours in the dark. It inspired the invention of many things such as the flashlight, the flashlight bulb, the flashlight battery, and so much more.
Without electricity and the inventions it brought, human civilization might not exist the way it does today. The light bulb may not have been the most important invention, but it was an important one.
8. The Airplane
The airplane was another extremely important invention, that came out in the early twentieth century. Just as the light bulb had done before it, the airplane created an entire industry. Before the airplane, getting from one place to another required a lot of time and money. Airplanes changed all that by allowing you to travel not just across the country, but to other parts of the world as well. They made long distance travel affordable and quick.
Many different inventions were built around the creation of the airplane. There were inventions for aerial warfare, for trade, and for exploration. Without these inventions, the concept of global travel would not be as developed as it is today.
7. The Television
Television was another invention that was created in the last few decades of the twentieth century and continues to be one of the greatest inventions of all time. It changed the way in which people receive information. Before the advent of television, people relied on newspapers, books and other various forms of media to keep them up to date on what is going on in the world. With television, people are able to watch events unfold as they happen, rather than having to wait for someone else to tell them about them first.
In addition to this, television has changed the way in which children are reared. It's common for children to sit in front of a television for many hours a day. It is not uncommon for children to become completely detached from reality. Studies have shown, that children that grow up with a lot of exposure to television are more likely to have communication problems when they're older, as well as suffer from a decreased attention span and general intelligence. Although television has done a lot of good, it has also had some seriously negative effects.
6. The Typewriter
The typewriter is another invention that has had a significant impact on the way in which we live. It allowed for the creation of written works at speeds, that were impossible before its invention. Authors were among the first to reap the benefits of this invention. Today, the typewriter is mainly used for business purposes and for creating art.
5. The Telescope
The telescope was another invention, that allowed for the possibility of understanding the space around us. Before its invention, it was impossible to view anything other than our local sky. With the invention of the telescope, people were able to view much farther skies and discover many new, interesting things. It was this possibility, that motivated the invention of modern day astronomy.
4. The Microwave Oven
The microwave oven is another invention, that has revolutionized the way in which we prepare our food. It allows for the quick heating of food in a short amount of time, which is ideal for people, who hate spending half a day preparing a meal. It has also made fast food accessible to the middle class and working class.
3. The Digital Camera
Same as the film camera, the digital camera is another extremely useful invention. It allows for a record of important events to be made, allowing for the past to be understood and ones future to be planned. Photography is a very difficult art to master, as photographs cannot always be relied upon to tell the truth and must be studied in more detail. They can, however, provide important clues, when it comes to studying history. It is for this reason, that historians and other types of experts rely on photographs as one of their main sources of information.
2. The Screwdriver
The screwdriver is the second most essential invention after the tool itself; the hammer. It allows for physical work to be done, that would otherwise be extremely difficult without it. It has been used to construct buildings, to fix machinery, and to fix everything else under the Sun.
1. The Crossbow
The crossbow allowed for the first victory against overwhelming odds in the very first battle. It has been used to win every major battle in history since its invention. The crossbow is a simple weapon, that could be made by anyone. It is reliable, effective and devastating, when wielded by a skilled fighter. Without it, the history of battle would have been quite different.

My favorite invention and I think the most important invention in history is the light bulb, without it we would still be in the dark. It is the root of many inventions.
To answer your question, in a next list you can add the cell phone and the computer, inventions that we can no longer live without, they are part of our body as an extension.
