Most of us want to get better at something, but sometimes we get stuck in the same place for an extended period of time without any tangible progress. Sometimes the best way to get unstuck is to find some new information. Sometimes though, new information is the best way to become stagnant. It's important to balance learning and progress.
This blog is about the balance between learning progress and power. It's about us trying to learn. It's about doing something great for not for greed, but for the betterment of the human condition, which is the only reason I'm interested in learning in general. It's about trying to do something good and maybe, just maybe, we'll actually figure out something, that everyone can agree on and be happy with. It's about finding, that ever elusive perfect balance, that we talk about a lot, but never actually achieve.
Let's begin.
Learning can be frustrating, time consuming, and even boring at times. That's why so many people are content on just living their lives and not striving for anything greater. However when you learn, and you read and you do your homework, you will be unstoppable. You will achieve greatness. You will not just survive, but you will thrive in this world. You will become more, than just an average human being. You will become a being of power. You progress from learning, but you have to find the balance in doing it. Power comes with responsibility. Power can only be achieved by those, who take the reins in their own hands.
Knowledge is power. Progress, just a step forward for mankind. Knowledge gives you the edge to succeed in life. Knowledge, progress and power. These words seem so simple, yet the implications are great. Don't just read them, grasp them by the horns and live your life by them. What is the use of power, if you don't use it to rise above the rest? What is the use of progress, if you don't use it to change the world for the better? What is the use of knowledge, if you don't use it to improve yourself? Life is all about balance. It is about finding that fine line where you not only survive, but thrive.
The Knowledge Progress Theory
Knowledge, progress and power is the tagline that, will go above all my writings. I will explain my thoughts on each and how I believe things should be balanced.
Knowledge
Knowledge is defined quite simply as the more you know, the less you need. I think quite often the world has unreasonable demands on knowledge. It used to be the case, that all one had to do to be considered educated was to learn how to read, write and count. These days though, education is so much more, than the tools of literacy.
Knowledge has taken on a much more complex meaning in the modern world. People want to know things. They'll never use in any way, shape, or form in their everyday lives. It almost seems as though society as a whole has developed a need for knowledge. Even worse, often times those with the most knowledge are those, who have the fewest practical skills to back it up.
I call this the "Knowledge Progress Theory". It basically states, that in order to get ahead in life, you need to keep learning new things. Even if you're not doing it for personal benefit, you're still getting ahead, because society demands it. This concept is horribly broken.
Progress
We progress through life not by actual growth, but by consuming what has been created before us. This is true in every aspect of life, but especially when it comes to knowledge. We don't actually achieve anything ourselves, we just consume the creations of those, who came before us. This cycle will never end. The more we consume, the more we want and the more we need. This need for knowledge will never be satisfied.
This need will never end. The key to success, the only way to true fulfillment, is to do something yourself. Create your own path. Nobody can do it for you. If you really want to achieve something in life, the only way to do it is to take the reins and drive yourself to success. Give yourself freedom. This concept is highly praised and greatly accepted. There is no greater driving force, than personal motivation.
However, it must be noted, that this concept does not just apply to success. It can be applied to pursuing any goal, that has meaning to you. I've heard it said many times, that if one has a passion, then everything else will fall into place. This is untrue. Passion is merely a byproduct of finding fulfillment in your goals. If you have a passion, then you have a reason to pursue your goals.
However, your goals do not need to be decided by something other than yourself. You do not need the approval of others. You do not need to fit in. You do not need to be great. You do not need to live up to some ideal. You do not need to succeed. You just need to be true to yourself. This, in my mind, is the ideal of balance.
Power
Power, in my mind at least, is the ability to do anything that doesn't harm or infringe upon the rights of others. This can be anything from changing the world to simply cleaning your room. The important thing is, that it's something you're willing to do even if you don't like it. Any task you give yourself should benefit you in some way. Otherwise, what's the point? Achieving your goals should be fun and not something you dread. When you achieve your goals, you'll be glad that you did. When you're content, you'll be happy. When you have a good time, life is good. This seems so obvious and so simple, but so many people forget it.
Properly understanding knowledge, progress and power is the key to achieving balance. Knowledge, progress and power. These are three of the most commonly misunderstood concepts in the world today.

I agree with the things that you have shared. Knowledge is power. If you want to have progress in life, you need to learn new things. Power will always come with knowledge and progress as well. It is all interconnected. Maintaining the balance with these three will make us unstoppable.
