Content Creators And Content Consumers

Nowadays and in recent years, people have moved from watching television to the internet for simply spending their time, to play, gamble, watch movies, listen to music, but the majority of them for content consumption, with social media and video sharing platforms being the most popular.

Gaining information and interacting online is coupled with active content consumption, while watching television is a passive activity. On social media platforms, in addition to reading blog posts, listening to podcasts or watching videos, we can also have our say. This allows us to interact with both content creators and other content consumers.

However, this form of communication can sometimes lead to conflicts. Often there are minor disagreements, which shouldn't be a problem, as everyone has their own opinion, which they can freely express anywhere and anytime.

The bigger problem is that they can be rude to the author of the thread or other contributors. This contributes greatly to the kind of content we watch, listen to or read.

If we don't like a particular programme on television, we simply change the channel and look for a programme we like. If you are a fan of romantic movies and hate horror, you will not watch a horror movie. It is that dead simple.

It should work the same way on the internet. Instead, we often read a lot of negative, pathetic and offensive comments. That would be important if the information we seek is for us. We should be the target audience of the content creator.

A response to such an offensive comment can often be: "then why did you open my content?" This may sound a bit equally offensive, but it is perfectly valid.

If the comment is revealing, that the content is not consumer-friendly, it is worth considering whether we are getting our information from the right source.

Of course, we have the right to consume the content we want, but it is worth filtering it to ensure, that it meets our expectations and needs.

The content creator has a difficult job in this respect, because it is absolutely impossible to produce content, that will fully satisfy every single person and meet their expectations.

People like to take everything personally, which creates the real problem. Often thought by people, that a particular video will be worth to watch and spend that 30-40 minutes, judging by the title. When they realise, that it was not for them, they will interact, saying it was just a clickbait or something along that line.

Let me give you a few examples:

If you are a mother of three children and you are looking for a training video, because you want to lose a few pounds, don't have a comment under the video saying: "It's easy for you to take classes here, because you have time to do that."

Of course those workouts are not made for you. You are not the target audience.

If someone is looking for a diet program but doesn't want to give up eating meat, don't watch vegan videos and, more importantly, don't say anything that doesn't fit, because you are not the target audience.

I am not saying, that every content out there is perfect or worth the time consuming it, because we have to admit, that the internet is also full of rubbish. If we wasted our time, by reading some information, that did not help us out, let's not waste more of our precious time by creating conflicts.

Creating conflicts by leaving a negative comment, does not give us a good image. If you think about it, once we left a comment it will be sitting under our name, which carries a bad reputation of ourselves especially if we are a fellow content creator.

Because it is simply impossible to please all people, content creators often place disclaimers in the content and do not take any responsibility for what is said in the content.

Thus, each person will act at their own risk based on what they see or hear.

Very true. I am just sighing with these people. If you don't like the content, why even bothering checking it out? Maybe you really can criticize, that is, if the content has a big difference between what it promised to share, and what it actually did share. But if the content is meant for some other audience, don't fret. Not all contents are for you. Lol.

This is what I also feel as a Kpop fan. Not all people like the kind of music I listen to. I understand that. But it would be so rude if these people would even say "I hate their songs". because first of all, it's not like the artist put you under pressure to listen to it. Haha!

Exactly. Everybody have their own choices what to listen and there are no bad music as such. It is either you like it or not. You can say I don't like it if it is not your taste. There is nothing wrong with it, but I hate it when they say to my favourite band that it is bad.
