Sometime ago, I was anchoring a question and answer program on a seminar, and someone ask me how can she avoid sex before marriage? For the benefit and betterment of other people I decided to write article on it, so that they will understand.
Let me start by saying, that sex itself is not a sin, sex is created by God. As a matter of fact, God created us with sexual organs because He want us to have sex and bare children, sex is a gift from God to us, but it's to be enjoyed by only legally married couples. The only time God expected us to have sex is when we are married and not before marriage.
Premarital and Extermarital sex are sin, they maybe fun but not honorable. If you notice those two words,you will understand because one carries prefix" pre" and the other " extra" and what is that telling us sex before pre or outside of marriage extra is not right. Sex is meant only to married couples" marital".
Avoiding sex before marriage, not just because it is the right thing to do, it will also save you from lots of avoidable ugly experience, guilty conscience,STDs, unwanted pregnancy, stagnation, death, God's judgement, abortion etc. It pays to avoid sex before marriage, you will make God happy by avoiding it and at the same time save yourself from troubles. So close up and zip up.
Hebrews 13:4 says " marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but whoremonger and adulterer God will judge them. Avoiding sex before marriage is an honorable thing to do. Maybe you are in a relationship and your sincerely desire to maintain sexual purity, to avoid sex before marriage.
These are the things you need to know whether to consider yourself of having sex before marriage or not.
DECISION
In Daniel 1:8 the bible says that daniel purpose or deside in his heart that he won't defile himself. Likewise, you have to make a decision for yourself because life is all about decision, and nothing get done without a good decision. So you need to decide for yourself what you want and have to do.
GUIDE YOUR MIND
In proverbs 4:23 it says guide your heart with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of life. " Your mind is the gateway to your life" what goes in your mind determine what goes on in your life, so guide your heart from pollution,watch the things you fill your mind with, know the type of music 🎶 that you listen to, the videos you watch , the books 📚 you read, and mind the type of friends you keep etc. Because all these things have the power to influence you.
MIND YOUR CONVERSATION
In Colossians 3:8 the bible says that we should put off every filthy communication out of our mouths. Avoid using obscene words, evotic words, suggestive words, avoid sex chatting, mind your use of words. In short avoid words that can turn you into sex.
RENEW YOUR MIND
Romans 12:2 the bible says we should renew our mind because that's only when we will be able to judge rightly. When you are always horny or having an eraction, you have been filling you mind with sexual stuff, your mind needs renewing. Watch, listen and read positive things,mostly important the word of God. Listen to nice music 🎶, sermon,by doing this you are renewing your mind. Remember it's garbage in garbage out, it's what you fill your mind with that it will process and give you back in return, you can't fill your mind negativity and be expecting to live positively.
AVOID TOO MUCH CLOSENESS
The bible asked a question in proverbs that can a man take a fire 🔥 in his bosom and will not get burnt 🥵? If you don't want fire to burn you, don't get close to it. Avoid too much closeness, it can spark into flames. Men aren't the only one that list, women too, so you need to avoid too much unnecessary closeness in any form or share physical or online emotions.
DON'T COHABIT
Cohabiting means living together when you guys aren't married. Cohabiting for whatever reasons is not right that is actually a sin, we should avoid every appearance of evil. You are only expected to live together after marriage and not before marriage, unless of course if sexual purity is not in your mind. Human body is not an iron it must react especially when emotions is involved, because it is a harmattan fire 🔥! You can't keep a goat 🐐 and yam in the same place and expect nothing to happen, so be wise in everything thing that you are doing.
AVOID STAYING IN SECLUDED PLACE ALONE
Sin thrives in secret very well. To avoid sex try as much as possible to avoid staying alone in a secluded place together , because anything can happen at any given time . If visiting him / her will make both of you to fall into sex, please 🥺 stop visiting and let your meetings be in am open place biko.
STOP COLLECTING OR REQUESTING FOR MONEY
Am talking of our beautiful ladies now, for a guy to give you money 💰 or gift, it also give him the right to ask sex from you. So do not ask for money nor any other thing from them . Because when you keep collecting gifts and money from them you have to pay for it, which is true sexual immorality. And if you don't want to accept their request they will start blackmailing you emotional," after all I have done what you ask me to do for you and now is you own turn to pay me back. After giving you everything atlist you have to compromize me for that, and after the emotional blackmail you fall for him. Please we need to sit up and wise up for once.
ASK FOR GRACE
In time pass, sexual immorality, temptation and perversion are not rampant as it is now, here and there are full of atrocities, sexual immorality. But in mist of all these we need God's enabling powers ( grace) to come out victorious. The urge to sin is stronger than your will. So therefore it is not him that willeth but of God that showeth mercy. You have decided many times not to have sex, but you keep failing into it despite your decisions. It's good to make nor take a decision, but much more than that you need God's grace. So we need to ask for God's grace to overcome all the temptation at is coming in our ways.
AVOID GETTING INTIMATE
Don't eat the food while it's still on fire 🔥, you are the same person that will still eat the food when it's cooked. So avoid kissing, romancing, touching, smooching, unnecessary hugging etc. These are the launching pad to sex. So let's try to control ourselves, emotions, feelings etc.
Let me conclude by saying that maintaining sexual purity pays, it will give you peace of mind, it will also save you from all sorts of troubles and more importantly you will make God happy 😊😊😊.
