On My Wedding Day

Williams took everything with ease. Despite the pressure from home, he still didn't give in to rushing to marry. They have been dating for five years and something seems not clear about her. He'd prefer to know his woman intoto before saying I do.

Folake knew someday, Williams will propose to her. She gave her all to the leather slippers. Most weekends, she comes over to Williams' to help him do some chores and prepare him some homemade meals.

On the eve of their five years together, two weeks to Valentine's day, Folake surprised Williams with a car gift. It was the biggest shock of via entire life. He earns more than her. Why on earth would she have gone this far. Why Williams was still in shock, Folake reassured him of her love for him.

I can do anything for you. You rock my word and that alone is enough me. I would bring you the moon if that's what it takes to prove my life for you.

This is a defining moment for the love affair. That evening, as Folake made to leave his apartment after the celebration of the new car, Williams held her hand, drew her closer to his bosom, and kissed her forehead. She didn't want more than that either.

On the very day of Valentine, Williams went to her office, on the island of Lagos with a box of silver shining engagement rings. He wore a white shirt on a carton color chinos with black leather slippers. When he reached her office, it was already lunchtime, most of the staff were in the cafeteria.

As Williams appeared, Folake looked surprised.

What are you doing here?

She asked, like someone who is surprised.

To see these of my life. Is that too much a task?

Williams retorted Folake.

They both made for her table where she already had a bottle of water and her food on the way. The waiter came with a plate of fried rice and roasted fish for Folake who later requested the same for Williams.

As they both devoured the plate of rice, Williams ate as his life depended on it so as not to raise any suspicion by Folake who was watching every of his move.

When they were done eating and ready to leave the restaurant, walking towards the door that leads outside to the car park, Williams held the door handle, went down his knees, and fetching the box of rings from his pocket, he asked Folake to marry him. Everyone in the cafeteria started ranting:

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

Like she was shy, she pulled him up after she had accepted the ring, kissed him passionately.

The first step to getting married is acceptance by both parties to accept to live together. When that is done, Williams went home to tell his mother that he had finally found someone to settle down with. Since the death of his father, his mother, Nneoma wished to see her grandchildren and so had to hasten Williams her only son to get married so that desire can be fulfilled.

When Williams announced his intention to marry his mother, she leaped with joy and danced. Immediately, Nneoma requested that the wedding plans begin in earnest.

The first visit to the bride was held and arrangements for a traditional wedding ensued. Williams and Folake bought their attire and fixed a date for the engagement.

On the day of the wedding, traditional rites were settled first before the merriment began. As the bride was to dance out to pick her husband, the music of oriental brothers blazed through the loudspeakers.

Folake was in the company of her confetti ladies. The poured out the flowers while she walked out like a queen. She went out to kneel before the oldest man of her family who poured out a cup of palm wine to give the man she has chosen as her husband.

Majestic ally, she stood up and took some silent steps towards the crowd where she is to give the cup.of wine to her proposed husband and call him out to the elders so that their marriage will be blessed.

As she got closer, she saw Williams and got confused when she saw another replica of Williams. Which of the two men is Williams? In her confused state, she returned to the elders, and Williams kinsmen followed her as she walked back.

The two men walked out, and said they are Williams together.

His kinsmen could not differentiate between the two men. This seemed like a very serious matter. Folake's brothers went and called the Dibia to see what is it that is happening, before they arrived, Williams have disappeared. He had reincarnated and lived as a single in the city before he came into Folake's life.
