Keeping My Shoes

It's another great day. Every day is a great day, don't you think? Yes, it is. As I was preparing for work this morning, I was listening to the radio and the discussion caught my attention. The presenter was discussing shoes. People wear shoes for diverse reasons.

You may have a reason for putting on some kind of shoes but all shoes play a vital role in our outlook.

Going back to my secondary school days, when we have to wear rubber shoes,  or because we don't love other kinds of shoes but because we are financially handicapped to buying them. We still loved to have some good designs of rubber shoes.

Alright. I came to know that shoes are important just as presenting us as neatly dressed or somewhat but for protection. When an individual sees you, they first look at your footwear.

This goes to tell how important your shoes are. They are your identity. People spend a lot of money purchasing a pair of shoes.

A world record shows that over 600 million do not have a single pair of shoes.

Recently, when I read the autobiography of a popular Nigerian pastor, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, he spoke about a time when he had no shoes. For the first fifteen years of his life, he walked about with shoes. Many others have the same story to tell. This goes to tell us that shoes are very important and must be cared for.

Care For Shoes

To care for our shoes, the atmospheric condition of our vicinity is a great factor to be determined.

However, let's see some tips that could help you keep your shoes ever shining and attractive.

Spray New Shoes

When you get a new pair of shoes, spray it with a waterproof protector. That will keep the surface of the shoe dry throughout usage. This can help improve the lifespan of your shoes. Note that this should be done before you start wearing the shoe.

Half Sole and Taps

This would act as a protector for your shoes. For those who do not have a car, who would have to walk around before getting to board a cab or do a bike, there is a need to fix a half sole and tap on the heel of the shoe to keep it from chopping off or wearing out quickly. This method is as old as when shoe maintenance started hundreds of years ago.

A Substitute

Depending on only a pair of shoes may make it clear out very easily. Hence, there is a need to get another one as an alternative to change so that the shoes can last. Have you heard people who have publicly declared that they had one pair of shoes for a long period of time? Now, I would like you to imagine how the shoe would look after a while. You may not get an exact answer as to how the shoes may look. If someone who has one shoe keeps to these tips, he shoes could last longer than a man who has a lot of shoe pairs.

Polish Softly

Polishing your shoe is good, but it must be done with care. For a leather shoe to last, one would have to apply dry polish and mildly too. If polish is applied to the shoe with a large quantity, the shoes are likely going to swell when rain beats it. Applying wet or liquid polish is also not too fine for leather shoes. On the other hand, the text of the shoe coat determines what you want to use to keep it neat. If you apply spray on your suede shoes, do not bring the shoe closer to the spray, the hotness of the spray burns the suede and peels it off the leather. Now, that's a costly one you have there. I have abandoned some of my suede shoes because I didn't understand how to care for them before now.

 Wear Stockings or Hose

To keep your feet dry in your shoes, and to avoid the offensive smell, you'd need to put on stockings or hose as the case may be. This would help you get a like for your shoes.

Now, there is no limit to what you can do with taking care of your shoes. I am sure some people musically sun dry their shoes to keep it dry. For me, that works pretty well too.
