Good Laughs, Bad Intensions.

I like to laugh. Many guys like to laugh too. I could say I am addicted to laughing. The reasons are not farfetched. We were taught that one way through which we can give in easily to failure is to be sorrowful. Hence, I decided to laugh away sorrow anytime I feel depressed.

Wearing a countenance of defeat is enough reason to be defeated. In the 1996 world cup when our beloved Nigerian super-eagles played Italy, the Nigerian players were looking very bright despite being the underdogs in the match. They played their hearts on the pitch and then, the world recognized that day that your size or stature isn't a determinant of whom you are, it all started with laughing.

The entertainment industry, comedy to precise in Nigeria started with the likes of Ali Baba andJulius Agwu, during their debut into the comedy world, they were out to put a smile on the faces of their audience. Instead of laughter, these guys made us laugh and we are grateful for their effort. In our moments of pain, grief as a people, when our economy still bites hard, we still had the impetus to laugh.

Away from all that. I know there are lots of people who like to laugh like me. Of concern is the purpose of laughing. Do we just laugh? When we laugh for no reason, that could be termed a symptom of madness.

If one begins to laugh at a funeral, that could be disastrous though. Why on earth would someone laugh at a funeral?

There are no doubts some very bad reasons to laugh.

For instance, when you laugh at the fall of others, it does make good sense and does not portray you as humane. We should ne natural and not act like foxes. The most reason why one would laugh at something that is not amusing could be traced to a nonchalant attitude. Most carefree people would also laugh at what makes others cry.

To state the obvious, laughter isn't about jokes. It's a social behaviour.

Whichever way you present it, the human brain can make a clear difference between deliberate laugh and a laugh that is helpless. I know you may wonder what a helpless laugh could mean. That's a laugh which you can't control. You pour it out from your whole being.

Why Do People Laugh?

This seemed a question that has an answer already. Not to be taken aback, let's see some reasons why people laugh.

For the love of it. There are people born with the potential to laugh at anything. Even when a serious issue is been discussed, they just laugh. This trait is not apologetic because the perpetrator does not know what he or she is doing harms or detests others. Ot is just a way to express themselves.

Social bond and interaction. When everything is at peace in a group laughter is bound to be heard. Having a chit-chat could result in laughter at some points. In a sour kind of bonding, you do not expect people to express themselves in laughter. What you rather see is bitterness. Here, laughing is an expression that shows you like people and appreciates being around them.

Friendship is another reason people may laugh. When you are with your friends you are surely free to laugh.

Amusement is the most cause of laughter. Official laughter must have been caused by amusement.

Meanwhile, laugh can be deceptive.

I have imagined the method of laughter exhibited by the likes of Adolf Hitler, Martin Lither Jnr King, etc.

The expression of laughter from some bad minds may be very consequential.

A man who told his friend he was going to be paying off workers in his factory in the 80s because he was going to relocate his business from Nigeria to Ghana got robbed of all the cash he had brought home from the bank earlier in the day.

It was his so-called friend that set him up and got him robbed of all the valuables. Laugh indeed could be deceptive.

Laugh Can Cause Chaos

When you laugh at someone when you should be consoling them, it could result to conflict. When a person does this, it could be that he had wanted something unpleasant to occur to his fellow.

Two years ago, I joined my friend to watch a champions league match, in wasn't used to this but In this day, I joined for the fun of it.

As the game went on, the first go came in and the humiliation began. The final scores was 3:0 against the big so-called team. Some guys started making jest of fans of the team that lost, before we could say jack, what started as a laughing matter, ended up bloody.

From that day, I made sure I laughed only when it is necessary.

I believe that laughter should be sincere, that is, not faked. I like to be with people who laugh, who are cheerful. But as you say, you can't laugh in every place or at every moment. They say that laughter is the best medicine to soothe the soul. You may be going through a difficult time, but if you still have the impetus to laugh you are positive minded.

Thanks for coming around. The fact is that laughing have put.me in a position where I had to run for safety because of the unfriendly gestures I got after the laughing. Not all situations warrant a laugh.

I love laughing a lot and it makes it hard for people to predict when I am angry or not.

Your reasons for laughing are right and in addition, laughing makes me look handsome. Once I frown, I am always ugly 🤣

Regardless of the humour, as long at there is no underlying illness, insults or whatsover, laughter is likely to be the best medicine. And like you said, laugh when necessary!
