Good day and happy weekend to you all. It's going to be a swell day for me. The college management board accepted our proposal to conduct elections for the students to choose their candidates as reflects and assistance.

The idea came as a result of the weakened values of the society towards the electioneering process. In recent times, the vote of the people do not count again and as such, people have resolved to keep to themselves and never to have anything to do with politics whatsoever again.

First, we opened up the positions for which a students can be elected into. Beginning from the position of the senior prefect, to their assistants, to library, health, social, labour, agriculture, time keeper,

General supervisory, assembly, laboratory and punctuality prefect positions in the male and female categories all opened.

You may wonder (especially non-Nigerians) why these positions. The fact is that we coined them out from the prevalent circumstance within the college community. We look forward to that time when these learners, having been groomed at the school level, would be able to positively affect society.

Interest Forms

The interested senior students, who must have attained a certain age (following the universal adult sufferage kind of arrangement) would contact the electoral committee made up of the Vice Principal.of the college and other six staff to obtain a form. The form would be free of charge. This is enable someone who has the capacity to lead but financially handicapped to be able to participate in the process.

### Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective Conditions

To contest for a position, one would have to meeting certain conditions. The conditions vary from one position to the other. For example, the sports prefect must have such traits as to be athletic. This is fetched from the psychomotor aspect of learning. Hence, it goes a long way to help us put the round peg, in a round hole.

If this condition is also considered in our conventional electoral process, society would be better than what it is now.

Going from here, a lot of students have showed interests in particular offices where they are qualified to engage in productively.

Manifestoes

All candidates who have obtained an interest form must sell themselves to the electorates. The electorates in this case are every other students who are not candidates who had shown interest in any office.

Manifesto is a well written list of agenda that a candidate have thought about to deliver to the people or electorate in a given election. The manifesto is usually the ideology of any political party in a given state.

I bumped into one of the candidates who had shown interest in becoming the male senior prefect, writing out a list of items he would want to carry out during his tenure is elected.

Today would be interesting because, the candidates will be coming out to read out their individual manifesto to the whole school. I really cannot wait to hear some of the ideas these group of students have to share.

Campaign

Since, I was able to use canva.com, some of the candidates soxught my.assistance to give them some designs of campaign posters which they intend to use t make themselves known to the electorate.

One other can.didate who us seeking to be the senior prefect girl had gone ahead to make a radio jingle which her friends have had to carry about within the school premises to get more support on the agenda of becoming the next female senior prefect.

No Vote Buying or Money Exchange

All candidates have been informed that no such activity as vote buying should be found among contestants. This would result into disqualification of such candidate.

The wish of the people must prevail because in a democracy the choice of the people matter most.

Vote buying is detrimental to our polity. When people who are to assume public offices have been made to spend much money during the elections, they would have to settle bills that have been spent during the electioneering period, this could lead to corruption and that is what we currently experience in our polity.

Voter Education

This is one very important aspect of the whole process. The electorates must be enlightened about the elections.

First is that they have the right to defend their votes. After the voting period, electorate should be involved the counting of their votes in the polling booths.

I think this a suggestive article on what should be adopted in the Nigerian national electioneering process. It's a good one.
