Movie Review: Heneral Luna

Heneral Luna was a movie which shows how great our national heroes. It shows us the struggle and their heroism towards the freedom of our country. This gave us an overview on how they act and on how they become heroes. I have seen Heneral Luna is an open eye for one of our unappreciated but probably the Best General the Philippines could ever have. The film featuring John Arcilla as Gen. Luna depicted the turmoil among Filipinos and its leaders which continues until today. The glorification of Aguinaldo, a Caviteño who had Bonifacio and his brother killed, may have been staged the assassination of General Luna in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija as well. Heneral Luna has been acclaimed by critics as a great film. It has a better script, crisper execution and more excellent cinematography, well written, dramatic, poetic, and does justice to its subject matter. Heneral Luna is more than just retelling of the infamous general's experiences during the war. We saw in it the problem inherent with Filipino's that still pervade until today that causes our disunity and failure to progress.

Heneral Luna movie is a good recommendation to be watched by very Filipino. It was well executed and conveyed the true essence of patriotism through a man who was imperfect but mostly misunderstood by others. It was a tragedy that was part of our history that all Filipinos should know about. It actually triggered me to do more research about history and I was curious to know if all i have learned about the history of the Philippines are correct. Filipinos would do well to understand more about history and this may become their inspiration to know what they can do to help in the present conflicts happening in our country.

The main character which is Heneral Luna enacted by John Arcilla was very sincere, brilliant and inspiring. He gives justice to the personality of the general. I am very proud to the one responsible in creating this movie because, they may be able to show us the history of our country and this will make us awaken to the reality. Credit should be also gave to the rest cast who were able to give the diverse set of characters present in the film a presence that did not allow themselves to be diluted. There were problems with the portrayals of other people, however, such as not so fleshed out characters of Emilio Aguinaldo, and Apolinario Mabini the people in this film are much more believable and more imagining of how these characters must have been like.

Maybe some of us didn't know the story of Heneral Luna, but this movie will make you understand the emotions which you cannot be feel in reading some textbooks or other references. It will make you understand the complex information regarding the history of the Philippines and politics intervened with our military affairs deeper. Building strong sense of patriotism and nationalism begin with all of us. This movie will give a great lesson that will practice the patriotism of the youth and educating them about the selflessness. We must be proud and continue to develop our skills as Filipino in order to make other countries inspires us.
