Personal life
H Roger Ver was born in San Jose, California, on January 27, 1979. With his deeply religious Christian family, he spent a number of his early years in Silicon Valley. He shows an interest in business at a very young age, and when he was in Junior High School, H Roger Ver was already operating a profitable selling candy bars business, and he earns up to $50 a week. He became even more successful when he entered high school and was able to purchase a white Ford Mustang. This, however, leads to tension with his relatives. The purchase was not accepted by his profoundly religious parents, and his father tried to sell the car by putting an advertisement in a local newspaper. Roger reacted by calling the police who, if he did not delete the ad, threatened to arrest him. This dispute resulted in Roger moving out of the family home. He then attended De Anza College for a year before dropping out of a community college in Cupertino, California. Roger elected to follow a variety of small business interests after dropping out of college.

He argued strongly against taxes calling them illegal as well as declaring the war on drugs as unethical during a debate held at the San Jose State University and finally identified the ATF as criminals.
Imprisonment
Roger pleaded guilty in 2002 to an allegation of trafficking in explosives without a warrant. Roger was arrested because his business was selling an item called the "Pest Control Report 2000," which was actually a firecracker popular with farmers for scaring birds away. He was the only one arrested, Roger claimed, while the producer and other sellers were merely ordered to stop. He was granted a 10-month jail term in Federal Prison. Roger taught himself Japanese while in jail.
Roger argued that he was being wrongly investigated on account of some of his campaign rhetoric directed towards the ATF. He alleged that he was compelled to sign a plea deal or face up to 8 years being sent to jail. Roger spent 10 months in the Federal Penitentiary of Lompoc, during which he was placed on 3-year probation. Roger transferred to Japan on the last day of his probation.
